Should referees come from different parts of the state come tournament time?
#1
It just seems that some coaches pick the refs they want come district and region time and there are alot of controversial calls each year.
Just wanted to see what everyone thought.
#2
i think so it should be like collage football the refs should have to come from a diferent district
#3
No. The officials have no clue about the teams and may miss things an experienced crew with prior experience with the teams may miss which may in turn give a team an advantage. Same goes for football.
#4
Yes after they have a grudge against a certain player they may let that effect their officiating. By not knowing the players this would not happen
#5
good idea, the refs should be from different districts i believe
#6
Yes i think that would be a great thing to do, If the region was eld at paintsville nobody could win besides them b/c Bill Mike and if u had refs from down state that had no idea about any team then that would change everything
#7
Yes, no contact with coaches should be allowed.

At the sweet 16 no ref calls a game involving a team that they called during reg season.

12 of 16 regions taded out during regional play last season.
the 16th seems to always stay in house.
15th 14th and 13th have stayed in house one time in the past 12 years

I don't see what you mean here....If there is an illeagel move, then it shouldn't matter where the ref is from, he would catch it.

Mine is more in reference to football where things are much harder to see with so many people on the field. If a player or team has a tendency to push off during routes, hold, or such those are sometimes very questionable calls, and if a player has been known to do this over and over and over then the flag will more likely be used. I notice that NKY officials in football tend to throw a lot more defensive penalties (face mask, offsides, pass interference) than offensive penalties (false start, holding, delay of game) than EKY officials. I just don't think it's good for the players who have had a couple groups over them all year and have adjusted to that style of gameplay to please the officials to have a different crew come in who may call the game completely differently.

I'm not saying that either set of officials is better than the other, but I hated as a player to have to all of a sudden change my entire style of play because the officials call the game differently.

Also, why should they bring in other officials? They're supposed to be unbiased. If they're not, the governing body should step in take action to dismiss those officials who will not call a game fairly to all teams against all opponents. So, if all of the officials are calling the game unbiasedly, why bring in officials from a few hours away? All that is going to do is possibly lower their quality to perform their action because of the fatigue of the drive, just as it has been known to do to a team that has to travel a long distance to an away game.

!5 th will keep refs in house for District, however they are going to trade out with 14th in regional.
#13
Should at least switch regions
#14
Atleast get different Refs for the 15th Region b/c they all suck!
#15
I also think they should after watching a 5 second call last night that turned a game and all they ref did was laugh and run down the court. (it does not matter if you miss a call or two just act perfessional if you do) Not saying they all are this way, every region has good and bad but in small regions where refs know coaches outside of the sport some hold grudges from high school, personal things and everything else. refs can say it does not happen but it does.
#16
yes they should. i know from experience of how politics can dictate a tourney.
#17
in the 54th during the tournament its terrible..........if u understand what im sayin u can see how perry central has won district for the last i dont know how many years
#18
yeap
#19
All regions should trade officials during tournament time. Too many politics here in the 15th.

Most indeed. It would be so nice to treat basketball like they do football when it comes to the playoffs, then you wouldn't have all these QUESTIONABLE antics taking place, in district and region.

Take regions 1-8, and send different refs to a different region, say 8-6, 7-3, 1-4, etc.
Then in regions 9-16, 9 could go to 16, 16 to 10-11, 10-11 to 15, or what have you, in any way.

That way, no team has seen those officials, and nothing can be done or said about the outcome of a game.

If Boucher had any balls about him, he would see what kinds of problems there are, and take over the assigning come the post-season.
#21
Yes,, we have overall great officials in the 15th but look what the year they did the regional tourney at Pburg. One ref took a punch to the back of the head.
#22
I personally believe that refs should be brought in from out of state during tournament time otherwise you have refs who are allowing their fav team to do whatever they so choose and one day you will have a player seriously injured because of that.
