Ryle senior quarterback Conner Hempel will be featured on an MTV2 reality television series called “The Ride: The road to the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.” It premieres Saturday at 11 p.m.
The series follows a group of lightly-recruited high school quarterbacks competing for a roster spot in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Hempel (middle, No. 55) has rushed for 795 yards and 10 touchdowns and thrown for 850 yards and seven touchdowns while leading Ryle to the second round the playoffs. The Raiders will play Campbell County on Friday.

âRelax, all right? Donât try to strike everybody out. Strikeouts are boring! Besides that, theyâre fascist. Throw some ground balls â itâs more democratic.â

It's a shame that we have people who can just say congrats to a KY kid that is going to be on a show that will show how hard they work to get where they are and what it will take for them to get the the All American Bowl. Good luck to both of these young men.

Mindless reality shows like this as well as MTV in general do nothing for this great country of ours. Take away the attributes of the kids, it's all just smoke and mirrors to promote an agenda or make some moula. Obviously, some of you don't get what's really going on....

I think I get what's going on...I think it's called "entertainment". You may not like the show, but I'm sure alot of high school players will.
I'm pretty sure MTV2 isn't trying to get the kids to vote for a certain candidate or get the government to repeal DADT...
Agenda my :moon:...

It doesnt get the kid recognition for what he has achieved and what he is trying to achieve? It doesnt get his name out there to the college coaches all over the country? IMO it does.
I agree that MTV is a joke in general. And your right, TV is all about makin money. However, TV shows are going to be made about something. That is a fact. And I would MUCH rather watch this kind of show than watch some beautiful woman watching 20 guys fight over her or a bunch of ignorant people trying to survive on an island.
If you dont want to watch it, dont watch it. Heck, I prolly won't watch it either. But it is not a bad thing for the kid and give him some credit for even trying to get on the all-star team.
