Conner sophomore cornerback Camron Fogle made a stop on a two-point conversion attempt with 2:35 to play to preserve a 22-20 lead over Oldham County and senior linebacker Wes Walters ended the game with that score intact with an interception at the Oldham County 30-yard line as time ran out Saturday night at South Oldham in the season-opener for both schools.
Walters led the Cougars with six tackles.
Senior quarterback Cy Smith hit senior receiver Taylor Miller twice for touchdowns in the third quarter to give Conner the lead. The second touchdown connection, a 73-yard hookup, gave the Cougars a 22-14 lead.
Smith then hit senior running back Logan Kremer for the two-point conversion and an eight-point lead, forcing Oldham County to go for two after its final touchdown late in the game.http://nky.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/...2/8220409/
Earlier in the third quarter, Smith and Miller connected for a five-yard touchdown pass that gave Conner a 14-7 lead. Senior defensive back Jared Simpson set up that score with a fumble recovery.
Smith completed 14 of 22 passes for 174 yards and was intercepted once, along with his two touchdowns.
