* Mercy 53, Rowan County 45, final: The No. 6 Jaguars (26-8) advance to Saturday night's 9 EST championship game against the Rockcastle County-Scott County winner. Ellen Sholtes hit 11 of 14 free throws and finished with 22 points and six steals. Adri Neely scored 17 points to lead Rowan County (22-9). Mercy is in its second state final, having won the title in 1992.

The Lady Vikings had a great season. Scrappy bunch that played like they are coached. Coach Tackett is the real 16th region coach of the year. Great Job ladies. We are very proud of you.
