FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

No. 1 Trinity Has Third Game of Season Delayed
Games with DeSales, Daviess County Also Changed By Weather

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 1 Trinity will have to wait a day longer to attempt to extend their 20-game winning streak as weather has postponed tonight’s game between Trinity and Jeffersontown.

The teams hope to play on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. at Jeffersontown, weather permitting.

Earlier this season, a game with DeSales was delayed and a game with
Daviess County was cancelled due to weather problems.

Trinity is currently 22-2 on the season. The Shamrocks won their 20th consecutive game over the weekend with a 66-56 win over Clay County in Manchester. The Shamrocks are ranked nationally in several polls, including the USA Today Super 25 Regional Rankings, ESPN Rise Fab 50 and PrepNation.com rankings.

CANCELLATIONS AND DELAY OF GAME SITUATIONS DURING THE MIKE SZABO ERA
• Jan. 29, 2010: Trinity’s game at Daviess County is cancelled due to impending weather issues in the area.
• Jan. 8, 2010: Trinity’s game at DeSales was cancelled after a small snow storm cancelled school’s in the area on Jan. 8, 2010 and caused an early release on Jan. 7, 2010.
• Jan. 31, 2009: Trinity replaced games against Doss and St. Xavier with a game against Warren East in the State Farm Shootout at Bowling Green High School. The Shamrocks earned a 64-42 win and were able to attend at game at Western Kentucky University following the win.
• Jan. 27, 2009 and Jan. 30, 2009: Games against Doss and St. Xavier were cancelled after an ice and snow storm in the area caused nearly a half million to be without power throughout the state of Kentucky.
• Feb. 12, 2008 and Feb. 13, 2008: Snow and ice delayed the play of Trinity’s meeting with Male in a seventh region showdown that saw the Shamrocks the end of an 18-game home winning streak. After falling behind 2-0, the Shamrocks showed promise early with an 8-2 run, capped by a Matt Chambless three-point field goal. The Bulldogs answered with an impressive 17-2 run to take a 23-12. Chambless’ 12 first half points, including nine in the second quarter, and a plethora of blocks by the Shamrocks allowed the Rocks to keep the game close at 29-21 at halftime. Trinity cut the lead to 31-28 before the Bulldogs closed the quarter on a 13-3 run to end the third period when Male took their largest lead at 44-31. The Shamrocks responded in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Bulldog 16-4 to cut the lead to 48-47 in the final minute before costly turnovers and a questionable intentional foul call cost the Shamrocks a chance at the end as the Bulldogs escaped with a 52-47 win. Senior Matt Chambless had one of his best games of the season, putting up 21 points against the Bulldogs.
• Jan. 29, 2008 and Feb. 6, 2008: Trinity and Doss completed a game that began on Jan. 29, 2008 and was halted due to a power outage in Steinhauser Gymnasium. A rare line of tornadoes recorded havoc in the Ohio Valley region as multiple deaths and massive damage occurred. The St. Matthews area was hit hard as many signs were knocked down and cars destroyed just a mile down the road from Trinity. When the lights went out, Alex Kupper was at the line to shoot two free throws with Trinity leading 32-17 with 6:01 remaining in the third quarter. Josh Sewell led the Shamrocks with 14 points while Kupper added seven points and six rebounds. Aaron Tierney was unavailable for the finish of the game after suffering an injury in a Feb. 5, 2008 game against Waggener.
• Dec. 27, 2004: A leak in the Lexington Catholic roof forced Trinity’s opening round game with Montgomery County in the Fifth Third Bank Classic to be moved to the school’s old gymnasium. The move was a positive one for the Shamrocks who pounded the previously unbeaten team from Montgomery County, 71-39. Kyle Saxton had 17 points while Jeremy Abell added 10. The Shamrocks hit 8-of-15 three-point field goals and had 21 assists on 29 field goals in the game.
• Dec. 13, 2003: Burnt popcorn led to a short delay in the second half of a game between Trinity and South Oldham at Oldham County. South Oldham jumped to a 17-9 lead before the Shamrocks scored 51 points in the final three periods, but came up short in a 63-60 decision. Blake Nix had 21 points and seven rebounds while Kyle Saxton had 15 points and seven rebounds.
• Feb. 19, 2003: After the early season meeting between Trinity and Moore was cancelled, the game was made-up on Feb. 19, 2003 at Moore. The Shamrocks made just 2-of-18 three-point field goal attempts and suffered a 49-42 setback.

Well, it's a day late now, but Rowan @ Ashland was postponed to Thursday the 11th.

Ashland will now play Rose Hill twice in four days, at home on Friday the 12th (originally scheduled) and away on Monday the 15th (rescheduled from January 22 and January 30)

I may have this wrong, but I think we play five games in eight days, or something along those lines.

Yep, that's correct. 6:00 start vs. Rowan on Thursday, 8:00 start vs. Rose Hill on Friday to finish up at home, then on the road at Rose Hill on Monday, West Carter Tuesday and Russell to end the regular season next Friday.
