KHSAA scoreboard question?
#1
How come some teams only list one or two players stats and no one elses. Wouldnt kids look at this and wonder why they are not listed?
#2
Some coaches believe it is a scouting tool. Others only list those that fit the criteria of the KHSAA which may only be one or two.
#3
All players stats should be posted

That would be nice! I know that both Rockcastle County coaches drive me bananas with that. I want to see statistics and post some numbers up on here sometimes. it would be nice to not have to dig through the Herald-Leader website adding up box scores.

I realize that gives other teams scouting help but what will they see in stats that they wont see in game film?

correct me if i am wrong but in the 16th region only 3 teams list all their players and their stats (ashland, rosehill, west carter).

Quick access to FT%, number of players that play regularly, 3 point %,etc. Not all coaches see teams live and in person and rely on third person accounts. Just another way of fact finding.

KHSAA should make it mandatory for rosters to be on its site for media, statisticians, fans. It would take about 5 minutes to update rosters and schedules.

Isn't tape sharing somewhat common? Is it that hard to meet and share film, or to Fed Ex/UPS a tape before the game? I know that is almost impossible during tournaments but you don't need to do it at a tournament because you are already right there.

I don't think that FT%, FG%, and minutes are things that people are that concerned with. People want flare so they are looking for PPG, Rebounds, Assists, etc... Things that coaches should already have some idea of anyway.

Coaches look at stats all the time. The common fan looks at PPG only, but if I am playing a team that shoots 3's below 30% I may zone them. If I plan on fouling late in the game the one tape may not show a tendency to miss FT's, whereas, a total FT% will allow me to put on my scouting sheet who to foul in crucial times.

Teams do not share tapes as much in BB as they do in FB.

i agree that those are important stats. I am just saying that the casual fan WANTS to know the PPG, etc...

Glad to see the Ashland Daily get most of the stats for the area teams.
