In an interview with ESPN, Chris Henry's fiancee sheds new light on the Dec. 16 domestic dispute between the two that led to the eventual death of the Bengals wide receiver.
Loleini Tonga told ESPN "Outside the Lines" reporter John Barr that she was not driving fast, and that Henry jumped out of the back of the moving pickup she was driving.
Henry, 26, died from blunt-force trauma to the head from the fall.
"I wasn't going fast. Maybe he was scared because he saw someone calling the police," Tonga told ESPN.
Tonga said that she didn't stop the truck after he jumped because there was nowhere to stop on the road. "I think he thought maybe he was going to land. He was going to land right," Tonga said. " ...I have no idea what was going through his mind. But as far as him wanting to end his life, no, he had too much going on. I know he wouldn't want to be gone away from his kids. He loves his kids. And everything was going really good. It's just that one day ..."
