SHAMROCKS TRAVEL TO LEXINGTON FOR REPUBLIC BANK CLASSIC
SHAMROCKS CLAIMED KING OF THE BLUEGRASS TITLE ON TUESDAY

Coming off an impressive showing at the 2009 Canfield Development King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic that saw the Trinity Shamrocks claim their first KOB title in program history, the Rocks return to action Sunday in the Republic Bank Holiday Classic at Lexington Catholic. The Rocks are looking for their first title in the event since 2004.
Senior Josh Sewell has established himself as the leading candidate for the Mr. Basketball award in the state of Kentucky. Facing some of the state’s top competition and student-athletes, Sewell is averaging 20.5 points per game, compiling an impressive 164 points in eight games. He had a team high 23 points and claimed the Bob White Most Valuable Player honor following Trinity’s 59-42 win over Seneca in the finals of the King of the Bluegrass.
Sewell and the Shamrocks hope to extend their four game win streak in Lexington when the Shamrocks open up play at Lexington Catholic. Trinity has made a major impact in their six previous appearances in the event, including a title in 2004 and third place finish in 2002. Trinity is making its third straight and seventh appearance overall in the Republic Bank Classic. All-time, the Shamrocks are 17-6 in the event, with three of the losses coming in overtime. The Shamrocks won the 2004 event behind outstanding play from seniors Kyle Saxton, Bret Saxton and Zach Berry.

If Trinity plays with the same defensive intensity they showed in the KOB, Scott could be in for a long night.

Scott doesn't have anyone that can guard Sewell. Kilo Jones would be the closest but he does not have the strength. Corbett will lock down Smith.

Scott is a tough team, but Trinity is playing some of the best basketball in the state right now. Sewell should go for another big night.

Good luck to both teams!
