Who is your MVP from state championship weekend?
Who made a true difference between winning or losing?
A: Sammy Diehl: great game against a solid team. Like I have said before--Slashing Sammy is hard to stop
AA: #24 for Russell (Casey McCoy???): Hardnosed, quick, fast, tough plus anything else that you can think of. Plus--Classy. Scored touchdowns, flipped the ball back to the refs and ran off the field.
AAA: Justin Burke: knowing that he was injured made his performance that much better. Plus--he has a cannon to boot.
AAAA: Nick Petrino: I had heard all the negatives--but it was good to see the positives. The Trinity game plan was complexed (with numerous checks at the line). Plus--he played his best when the game was on the line. Good to see things work out for him. (The Trinity defense was a close second for me).

A- Diehl, exceptional game
AA- Kasey Clark, possibly the MVP of the entire weekend, he dont play, Russell don't win
AAA- Justin Burke, thought they should have pulled him from the game with the big lead, heard later he had refused to come out...thats heart
AAAA- Nick Petrino, stepped up at the right time
Overall, not a bad weekend of football I would say the AAAA and AA were the most exciting games, but then again the performance NCC put on was quite a show, I just like defense myself.

A: Sam Diehl - I listened to some of the game on the way home from the 3A and 2a games and he sounded amazing.
Stats: 13 of 24 for 256 yards 4 TDs and only 1 Int
AA: Kasey Clark - An absolutely dominating performance, on both sides of the ball.
Stats: 36 carries for 190 yards and 3 TDs
AAA: Wes Caldwell - The absolute playmaker of the offensive game for LexCath. He caught short passes and turned them into big gains.
Stats: 7 catches for 109 yards
AAAA: Nick Petrino - Led his team to a win over a great St. X team after they had been hammered earlier in the season.
Sorry can't find the stats right now.
My MVP overall for the weekend would have to be the performance set by Kasey Clark.

Diehl, Clark, Shane Israel, and Nick Petrino.
Overall, I say Diehl had the best game, with Clark coming in a close 2nd.

A: Sam Diehl- He's an amazing player, and he had an outstanding performance leading NCC to the 1A state title this weekend.
AA: Kasey Clark, no question. He had 36 carries in the game against OC, and he got as much yardage as he could on every carry. He has the heart and determination of a true champion.
AAA: This one was tough to decide, because there were a lot of people that made huge plays, but I think the MVP of this one should be the Lexington Catholic offensive line. That Bowling Green Defense is tough as nails, and their line did an excellent job blocking them. There were times where it seemed like Justin Burke would have all day to throw.
AAAA: Nick Petrino- I didn't see the stats on this guy, but he did a great job leading Trinity to a huge victory over a very tough St. Xavier team.
My overall MVP is Kasey Clark.
