Elizabethtown High School standout Curtis Washington was the surprise story of the summer, going from no offers to landing one from Southern California.
Now, the 6-foot-9 Washington is officially a member of the Trojans program. The photo (right) is from Washington, who noted his new hair cut was done on Tuesday.
"I have been waiting for this day and the anticipation has been crazy," Washington said. "I know it's just signing but it's like I am taking a blood oath or something. It's a big step for me and I am so excited. I can't wait to get there."
Washington, who led E'town in scoring as a junior, was a total unknown until late this summer. He was named the MVP of the Rick Bolus Blue Chip camp in June and then had two solid days of play at the adidas ItTakes5ive Classic with the Derek Smith All-Star West team.
His stock started to rise during the week with Indiana and IUPUI showing a little with dozens of other coaches watching him in the Cincinnati event.
But after his team lost, Washington spoke to Kevin O'Neill who made the offer.
"It still amazes me how everything worked out," Washington said. "I just keep my trust in God and keep working hard and letting everything work itself out. It's been a lot of fun."
Washington made a trip to the campus for a visit in early September. He took in a football game against San Jose State and had "a blast" on the weekend visit.
"It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be," he said.
