Must Watch Game of the Week
#1
With teams either entering or getting into the bulk of their district schedules, which game(s) should we be keeping up with as high school football fans? I'm looking for a game to watch, but I'm limited to games either in/around Lexington, NE Kentucky, or mountain teams. Outside of helping me make a choice, I'd like to hear some of the likely implications of each game.
Based on what I've seen here, Hazard vs. Breathitt County looks to be an interesting game, if only to see how Hazard will fare against a common opponent of LCA. I know comparing scores is an unimportant statistic, but it still provides a basis for comparison between teams when facing a particular type of offense/defense.

Anyway,

If there were no circumstances preventing a bit of travel, what game(s) have the possibility of creating a meaningful "playoff" experience for a fan with no dog in the fight?

Allen Central @ East Ridge (Homecoming)

I think the Whitley @ Clay should be a good game to watch.
They've both been said to win the district, so it should be a good game.

Jchs vs Ashland should be a dog fight, and should provide play off implications. For one or the other should win there district.

I agree. This game is personal. It is one of the best rivalries in eastern Kentucky and the way JC handled Ashland last year, you have to believe the 'Cats are out for some revenge. If JC can hang on to the football, they have a chance to make this one very interesting.

This is Sure to be a good rivalry for years to come. Can't wait to watch this game. I hate that jc is having a slow start, but glad tha we are playing some great compition.

Highlands/Dixie. The Birds in all aspects should dominate this game. But Dixie is better than an average team. The Birds will likely be without Bardo behind center, thus putting the ball into a very solid, but inexperienced signal caller. Though Collinsworth can more than carry the team on his back, there will be the pressure on him that would not normally be there. Plus, the emotional up for Dixie and potential letdown for HHS after such an emotional game with St. X.

I am in no way stating that the Birds will be challenged, I still think they win this by 3+ TD's, but to me this game takes on a different look and feel than it did two weeks ago.

how good is Boyle? we will soon see. Boyle-Lafayette its the saint x(Ohio) Highlands game equivalent it'll let both teams know where they stand.

This is my pick as well. AC will have to step it up this week after having a less than mediocre game against St. X. Also, this game will show rather he has healed from his hamstring injury.

This game will also set an example of what the rest of the season will be like if Bardo doesn't return. In the long term, it will help Towles get experience in order to possibly start his junior and senior years. In the short term, expect the passing game to be basically nonexistent until AC gets enough touches to put up a few scores.

If you're in town, maybe. Worth a special trip? Not really.
(Then again, I thought the Bryan Station playoff game last year was going to be a laugher, so keep that in mind.)
