Belfry didn't either.....

kyr450 Wrote:Yea considering AC faced LC's worse pitcher... Belfry had chances to score many times, but killed their selves on the bases, there was 4 or 5 big big base running mistakes costing outs an double plays, plus I knew it was going to be bad when Seth Copley blew the call at first when heath Varney got back on a throw over, it wasnt even close... I am proud of my Pirates though....

I don't know what kind of angle you had on the play, but the ump got the call right. It was close, but if Varney had gotten down, he would have been safe since the throw was chest high.

Probable #1 pitcher for Belfry if Moore is on their team. Repeat 11 Ks, and if not for errors no AC player gets to 3rd. Not bad for a freshman. Go to wymt and watch Copleys correct call, it was throw, tag, foot touch base. You must have had too many nachos.

No doubt. If Belfry would have had any pitching this year at all they would have been a lot better. They had pitching, just not anyone dominant that you would need in a tournament like this one.

and? He was saying since AC didn't face LC's top 3 they got lucky and kept it close, but it doesn't matter who LC threw, because they did not score. Meaning, AC held LC. It doesn't matter who LC threw.

What?? Nevermind! It really doesn't matter since they outscored their opponents in the regional tournament 33-4.

Belfry had pitching.
They had a 1 and 2 that were decent but noone else.
The difference between the 2 and 3 guys were like 10-15 mph.
Big difference, eh?

You can argue over every little thing and say if's but's and all that other bull but what it really comes down to who won the game at the end.

I have to agree slim everything was positive untill the reply about A.C. and the call at first. And if we are going to talk about ifs. If Little had been healthy L.C. would have beaten A.C. in the 10th(JUST JOKING) The fact is L.C. was the best team in the region by alot they proved it all season. GOOD LUCK DAWGS

I dont think they had any say so in it.

It was a figure of speech....I do not know why it was moved from the originally scheduled location. However, I would see why Lawrence County would want to host if PC gave it up...it was a good bet on their part. And, a huge advantage in their upcoming series with most likely Estill County.

Dont they play the winner of the 13th region?

Well it was nice of you to be politically correct. lol

Estill County will play the winner of the 16th region (Greenup Co.) and Lawrence Co. will play the winner of the Clay Co./Bell County game.

I really believe Belfry was the 2nd best team in the region, but 2nd don't get it. As far as any other team in this region even comparing thier team to LC don't disrespect LC they are in claas of thier own way ahead of the rest of us this year. They deserve all the praise they are receiving. Good luck Dogs!!!!

I wasnt trying to take anything away from LC they was the better team, and they are a first class bunch of guys, and I wish them the best, I was just saying they first call kind of set the tone for Belfry the rest of the game, they never recovered wether he was out or not ( IMO he was safe, was pretty close to the play, he was standing on the bag an the tag knocked him down) after that play Belfry made so many mental mistakes they never recovered...

kyr450,
I'm not disputing your opinion, but I think that you must have had a bad angle on the pickoff at first. Check out this link http://wymtarchives.com/watch?v=3039 to the wymt clip from the game and then tell me what you think. To me, it shows that he was clearly out. The cameraman did have a good angle (looking straight up the first base line).

From that angle, he was out.

Why argue about 1 out when the score difference was so far that it didnt matter anyway.

MM,
I guess from the heat that the men in blue take so often, it was the principle of the matter. And, to also point out that calls that appear to be one way from a particular view or angle are actually the exact opposite. Not to say that some calls are not blown, but this one definitely wasn't...

I agree with you Belfry proved in the tournament that they had a team to be reckoned with. Sorry we had to be so hard on you guys but we wanted it as bad as you guys did. I commend you guys on your defense it faltered a little against my Dawgs but was the strongest in the region. Loved the catcher, he may be the best defensive catcher in the region. I actually overheard a couple players commenting on how good his arm was. In the two games I watched I don't think he had a pass ball. Has he had any colleges look at him if not he should, he?? of an arm. Preston looked good also I don't remember him playing third. I thought he was an outfielder. Belfry looks like they may be a team to contend with again next year with the Runyon kid coming back.

AC wouldn't have scored against Belfry either with Runyon on the hill.

From where I was sitting, I agree with you totally.
