Here is a quote from L.T. in the interview.
I will also post the link
Hereâs what Tomlinson told the L.A. Times: âJim Brown was telling Peterson heâs the best runner heâd seen in a long time. I was sitting there reading it thinking, âWow.â The difference with me is you can put me out on that field and there will be nothing I canât do. I wonât have to come off the field. Adrian has to come off sometimes on third down. Running routes, heâs still not there yet. Great downhill runner, powerful, fast, all that stuff. ⦠But anything on that field you want me to do â throw it, block â I can do it. Thatâs what I pride myself on is not having any weaknesses. And thatâs what makes me the best back.â

True, overall, he's possibly the best back in the league, but Jones-Drew can run routes and catch just as good as LT, but AP is the best player to take the ball on a handoff and run.

LT should not even mention throwing the ball. he is a running back not a QB. everyone who has ever played football can throw one. he is not the best back now they're a few more that ccan compete with him. he has to say this caz even his back up sproles is putting pressure on him. but a few that can catch and run is definitely jones-drew, forte (second year too), ronnie brown, bush or pierre-thomas. and as far as running AP, burner turner, jacobs, barber, also watch out for felix jones,

IMO, LT's best days are behind him. He has taken too many hits and his body just can't continue to play effective football over an entire season. Marshall Faulk was the best in the game at one point. Once his body started showing signs of breaking down, he was a shoadow of him former self. Running Backs in the NFL have an average "life span" of five years, LT has hit that and then some. As a runner, Adrian Peterson is the best back in the game right now.

One name i will drop and that name is Peterson.

I do agree, LT's best days are behind him. BUT, I honestly still think for the most part he is right. He is a better overall back than AP. AP is the best off the hand-off though, I did like that comment PC You Know. He does have some problems at times holding onto the ball once he gets it sometimes though, something LT has never had to many problems with.
But, I'm not going to lie, my opinion is a little biased because I have always been a huge LT fan. But in saying that, as a fan, I did not like the fact that he felt the need to go to the media and express that. That is not the normal LT, and I don't like it. That was one of the qualities I liked the most about him was that he kept his mouth shut and played ball.
Oh and btw, I agree, running backs should never mention anything about throwing the ball. But I bet there are a bunch of lineman and kickers that have no chance with throwing a football lol.

Peterson will in the end be the best back. He has some milestones to crack but he will get it done. I have never seen a back that dangerous in the NFL or college. He has the moves to freeze, power to plow and speed to break it away. He is also smart and a sportsman who's example everyone can follow. I do not ever see him going to the media to say things about how good his game is. All i know is he is going to give us alot of unforgetable highlights in the years to come.
09-04-2009, 01:43 PM
I think he is still the best back in the NFL. Like he said he can do it all, He should mention throwing the ball with the way the league is going with the wildcat offense you need a RB that can throw. I think he'll still get his 1,000 yds and 10 Tds this year

How can you say that Lt is the best back? i dont understand where your coming from, petterson is now the more elite back, 3 years ago who knows, but lets face it Lt better worry about sproles or whatever and not petterson

I appreciate LT's swagger....
but he's on the downhill side of his career in the NFL
I'd love him to prove me wrong
I like seeing people succeed
but the fact that he can do a little bit of everything isn't something that's really effective right now....
a lot of teams are going with the two back system....which is a lot more useful than one back that can do a little bit of everything

Dead on my friend.
L.T. can go out in the flats and catch the ball. And he can take a hand-off and get positive yards. So, I have to give the Best Overall Back to LaDainain Tomlinon.

I'm not saying AP isn't an elite back I just think LT is better overall.
09-05-2009, 03:17 PM
well just look at it in fantasy football would you pick LT over peterson? the points go off productivity.

No, AP is the first overall pick in most leagues that aren't QB heavy.

LT is still a top notch back but Peterson is much younger and more explosive. At the end of the season the numbers will back up what Jim Brown said.

These are all nice arguments BUT, LaDainian Tomlinson has one thing that Adrian Peterson will likely never have, 29 touchdowns in one season (not including the 2 that he threw for). And there are a lot of reasons for this, LT said it best in that interview, he doesn't have to come out on 3rd down like AP. AP doesn't have the hands. In a three year career at Oklahoma he only caught 1 touchdown, and so far in two years in the NFL he has only caught.....1 touchdown. So when you condense everything down, he is a freak of nature (AP that is), and a dynamic back, but not as dynamic as LT. There may not have ever been a back that played in the NFL that is/was as dynamic as LT. Even though it isn't very fair to say that for past players because you didn't ever see Walter Payton or JIM BROWN rolling out and throwing a football 30 yards down the field for a TD.

unless i was confused and the interview was 2 years ago. oh yeah LT is not at this moment more dynamic than AP. yes he can catch better but can't move that football like AP. Lt also had one of the best leading blockers to ever play the game in lorezo neal. look at his #'s afterwards.

Does Tomlinson think Peterson's single-game rushing record was a fluke? Peterson is the real deal and will (if injury doesn't get to him) be going down in the hall-of-fame. Tomlinson is a future hall-of-famer as well, but Peterson is ahead of him now. There is no question about it. Like others have said, LT's best days are in the past. Peterson may not have ever record 29 TD's in one season, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did surpass that mark.
I'm with Jim Brown here, Peterson is one of the best rushers that we have seen in the game in a long time.

I am amazed enough at the possibilites of Peterson with a good passing QB to compliment him. I can't imagine him with a lead blocker like Neal! :notworthy

AP is the better one now, still wouldn't turn LT away if he showed up at the Packer door step.

They need him to!!!!!!! LMAO.

Man, I give your guy his props and get bashed for our running game. ( or lack there of)lol
Still wouldn't turn down LT.
