Pikeville High School: Smallest Student Enrollment in Pike Co.
Pike County Central: Largest Student Enrollment in Pike Co.
Whats wrong with this?

That happens from time to time. Somerset is a 3A school but they always have a pretty good showing, Corbin is a smaller school but they always have good crowds. Many small mountain schools fill up the bleachers as well.

I find this quite funny but also true. PHS always has a reliable student section no matter what sport, being a 1A school system. We had about 20-30 kids out for a soccer game. Football at Pikeville is probably the most concentrated sport, due to them always being the best at it. But as time goes on they're getting worse. Pike Co. Central has a very sad turnout being a 3A. Even for basketball which used to be HUGE there. As far as I can remember PC hasn't ever had a strong team football team.

I was always told East Ridge had the largest student body in Pike Co. And I thought Phelps was the smallest school in Pike County?

No sir. Pike Central, Belfry, then East Ridge.
But yes, you are right. Phelps is the smallest. But we all get the General idea of this thread. LOL

I believe SV is the 3rd smallest behind Phelps and Pikeville.

Lot of it has to do with tradition. You go to a Pikeville basketball game and it is like being at a funeral.

According to the football rankings, SV is listed under 2A.
Also, a Pikeville basketball game is dry. Cause in 3 years order, it was Regional Finals, 1st Round loss in District, Repeat District loss. They should pickup some wills this year though. But were in the Football forum

I'll go ahead and take the credit for this . JK, but I do try to do my best to liven things up in the halls of PHS.

Just making a point that fan support varies to what sport is more popular and successful although I will say Pike Central boys has been down also.

That would make DW5 correct. Phelps and Pikeville are the two smallest, being 1A schools. SV is third smallest, as the only county school classified 2A in football. The other three are all competing in 3A.

When your football team hasn't won a game you have to focus on something else.

Well leaving out the fact that they've played the #1 team in 4A and a tough Covington Holy Cross which is 2A I believe

What's wrong first of all is the Pikeville picture is from the Pike County Bowl which by know means is full of students. A nice pocket of students though. Reality of the PCCHS picture is the students have had only four home games to go to each of the last three years and by the time they roll around the record and performance hasnt been much worth coming to see. Who knows, after Fridays win things could be changing. We will see.

That's what I was saying. SV as a 2A school is the 3rd smallest school in Pike County. The rest are 3A.

Betsy Layne has the largest enrollment of all class A schools that play football and SV has around 100 more boys per year than BL does. Pikeville I believe is the 5th or 6th largest school in class A and SV has around 150 more boys per year than they do. So how does that make them close to being class A?

I can't explain why this happens. I have always thought it maybe because there are so many schools in the county. Could you imagine if we just had 2 schools focus our energy on? That would be fun to be apart of.

That number is 6-12.
For the past few years, Belfry has gotten more incoming Fresh. than outgoing Sr.'s and that trend will continue for at least the next 3.
Back to the topic.
