I really love stories about kids like this. He's not the biggest kid and the article didn't mention that colleges are beating down his doors, but he's got heart and he wants to make himself better. I love the fact that the kid reflects on a mistake or two he's made and he's willing to work to correct them. That's rare for adults to do, much less a kid who's probably 16 or 17.
I have to imagine that he's pretty easy to coach and that has to be awesome for Coach Deaton. Good luck to Derreck and Dayton this season.
