i dont think kids should be forced to play, i hate the kids on my own team that just do it "to wear the jersey and look like player". those kind of kids are just as lazy as the ones who sit at home, the only difference is they talk to their friends with a jersey on every fridaynight standing on the sideline. I'd much rather take 10 players by my side who wanted to play, than 100 on the sideline who just think they look cool doing it. now if you can get true atheletes who shoul probly be playing football but is playing basketball thinking they will go pro and they are 5'10, you should probly urge them to try and play football and actually have a shot at success beyond highschool at some position.

PLAYBOY5 Wrote:A subject that weighs on my mind that I am finally going to get off of my chest is numbers in schools and football..There is no reason that almost every boy in school should not come out for football. Especially in the mountains. There's nothing else to do around here, so why not man up and play sports. Time to meet friends, make memories, fight together and cry together. I don't care what size the school it is, COME OUT AND PLAY FOOTBALL! IF there is a school the size of Jenkins or the size of LCC, at least 75% of the boys should come out and quit letting everyone else down that are depending on you. Get off of your 4 wheeler, quit being a punk and causing trouble, get off the XBOX or PS, quit driving your truck or car around and learn life lessons that you will never experience anywhere else!

Can't let this topic go. A couple of other things that hurts numbers on the football field besides the stuff I mentioned before is season overlap. Basketball is now a year round sport. The true athlete is being forced to choose between football and basketball. Another is inadequate feeder systems. Most schools field just one 8th grade or one 7th grade team. The end result is kids lose interest if they don't get to play much. Some of the areas larger schools should have two or three teams to keep the kids involved.
