I dont know about the coach, but whats up with some of the players on the team? Wednesday I seen #12 push #3 for SV down and talk smack to him. Later on #30 pushed a JV player for SV and got a T. Friday night #12 for Pike C. pushed his own team mate ,and set out the rest of the game,didnt shake hands with the other team after the game was over. Been a long time since I saw attitudes like this on the floor..... Maybe Pike Central should start a wrestling team?

I agree about the attitudes. I watched them this year #24,#22 was terrible when they were taken out they talking back to the coach ,cursing on the floor.The kids have got talent but sometimes the attitudes can hurt you worse than the talent can help you. I hope they can get it together because that team has some talent. good luck pike central. They might need a old school coach!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what i hear if Mark was to win the regional tournament he would still be out at seasons end. There are several coaches that ive heard may be in the running but I can not mention who.

Haven't heard for sure who the likely replacement is, but look for Coach Thompson to relocate, perhaps back to Lexington....
I have heard 3-5 names for possible replacements including the previously mentioned Jody Thompson.

If Pikeville College doesn't let Kelly Wells recruit farther than 150 miles like it is rumored, you can mark it down he will be the next coach at Pike Central.

Coaching at PCHS is a swinging door. Get the wrong people upset and you are out, programs fold, teachers(coaches) transfered and so on.
Coach Thompson has had a rough year with some tempormental, and YES, disrespectful students\athletes.
From a coaching standpoint, close to 30 years, what I saw on the court from some of the players would not be tolerated. Either find out what the problem is, get with the program or get to the house! This is Old School Coaching...which is a dead breed of humans.
And this is just my opinion only, with some of the actions and attitudes of Coach Thompson's support staff I would have given them a pink slip long ago. I did it once and the entire attitude of the team changed.
Coaches having verbal confrontations with team members during practice and games, coaches walking out of practice...etc.,
I understand that there is more to this situation then we may all know, Pike County politics at its best, but if you have ever seen any of the games you all would know. When the games was going for PCCHS things are fine...but when the game in a losing mode the effort is not there. EGO's start coming out and are displayed to the public. You can't bench the entire team and if you bench the wrong player, who's parents are connected, then you are gone.

Pike Centrals attitude hurts them worse than anything. Mark Thompson doesn't do not one single thing about either. They can cuss, throw towels, and ignore him and he wont do jack. Also, why do they walk out on the floor after Halftime and before games? Thats the opposite of getting pumped up, the program has been just down right rediculous since the Brad Lowe era. Heck every game theres at least 5 kids at the end of the Bench still wearing shooting shirts praying to god they'll get in if their down by 40. He needs to give kids a chance and sub

I agree. If you have disrespectful players who get playing time, when OTHER kids are sitting the bench, and have been all season and would LOVE to get in the game, this is completely the coachs fault. He's basically giving them permission to do WHATEVER they want. If the players aren't doing what they are supposed to, give someone else a chance. I THOUGHT THE OBJECT OF THE GAME WAS TO WIN!!!:flush:

When you don't play man-to-man defense(which is ridiculous) and you play your big man on the high post, you deserve to lose your job. You obviously can't coach. Not to mention, letting your team show YOU who's boss!!!:devilflam

I agree about the attitudes..but if you had a coach like Thompson and a crappy season like they have, you wouldn't be just a little upset!! You must respect your coach! But does he give them anything to respect? And the most important aspect of this: if you have disrespectful players, they shouldn't be allowed to play. The coach is setting a bad example. What about the other players that have had to sit the bench ALL YEAR with no playing time? TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!!

Disrespectful players SHOULD NOT BE ON THE FLOOR! Job or no job he should play the kids that want to be out there and count it a privilege to play for their school. These kids could not have played back in the 70s and 80s.......

They really need to hire George Childers. He used to coach Pikeville 7th grade and had 5 consecutive undefeated seasons. The guy can coach and wont take crap from anybody and will set you straight. Winning is his main priority and thats what every school needs is a Head Coach like him

I really have no dog in this race, but from what I have witnessed at games--the player's actions and attitudes directly reflect that of their coaches!!! Alot of disrespect and alot of attitude going on at Central!!

Do people honestly think Kelly Wells is really considering the job?
The man can have ANY HS job in Kentucky and is a College Coach who has his sights set on a D1 job, preferably Morehead St.
I dont think Hatcher is going anywhere.
Johnny Martin is a real possibility from what I am hearing.

I think people would be very surprised to know how interested Kelly Wells might be. Pikeville College sure isnt doing him any favors in regards to scholarships, recruiting and sustaining the program. Also, a famliy tired of moving around is a factor. You might get a surprise !!!
Hatcher has family ties that are close to the area and $$$ talks. An assistant coach in that same district might be interested as well. Martin won't happen but another retired legend with some banners may be getting tired of retirement already. Surprises to come !

1. You all would be very surprised at how interested Mr. Wells is in this job. If things dont go the way he wants them to at Pikeville College dont be surprised to see him in the good ole blue and orange next season. (I AM PRAYING)
2. Hatcher is originaly a Willamson area native, his mother is very sick and lives in Willamson still. He is looking to relocate closer to home to take care of her and to finish out his carrier at what ever school is closest and has an open job. What a conveince that the Pike Central job has now/will open(ed) up. Not to mention a certain coach in the 14th is also looking to relocate around this area. (would love to see a combo with a big helping assistant)
3. Johnny Martin is looking to get back into coaching so dont be surprised if one of the two above me does not some how happen that he will be the next coach. Possibly but not positively. (The Running Hawks?)
