Seneca 88 - South Laurel 78

The pace was fast and furious, just the way the Redhawks (12-6) wanted it.

"That's our style," said Martez Harris, who led Seneca with 27 points. "We like to get up and down and push the tempo."

Seneca, which won the LIT in 1985 and 2004, got 18 points from Kevin Shaw, 14 from Aaron Nance and 12 from point guard Zach McElwain. The Redhawks hit 22 of 29 second-half shots (75.9 percent) and 36 of 60 (60 percent) for the game.

South Laurel, led by 6-9 junior Matt St. John's 21 points on 9-of-10 shooting, hit 32 of 47 shots for 68.1 percent.

Did Seneca want a run-and-gun contest?

"Oh, yeah," coach Steve Sergeant said. "Ninety-nine percent of the time we want that kind of game. That style fits our personnel and makes it hard for other teams to simulate in practice, for the most part."
