Another loss for this young Russell team to a pretty good Brossart squad that is now 7-1 on the year.

The Brossart Mustangs improve to 2-0 in pool play in the First National Bank Holiday Tournament
at Bracken County High School with a 54-42 hard-earned victory over 1-6 Russell.
The Red Devils presented the Mustangs with a 1-3-1 half court trap defense that it took our guys
the better part of three quarters to solve. It took until mid third quarter before going on a 10-0 run
to establish our biggest lead of the night at 34-24, which improved to a 36-24 advantage after three
quarters of play. The two teams matched 18 point fourth quarters as time expired with the Mustangs
on top 54-42.
The Mustangs abandoned their perimeter attack in the second half and took the game to the Red
Devils in the person of Jacob Rieger who took over the third quarter, scoring 10 of his game high
18 points and was largely responsible for our margain of victory.
Justin Morscher had another huge night off of the bench, scoring 12 points, including the only 3
point goals that we would connect on during the game.
The Mustangs and the tournament will take Sunday off from competition, and will resume play
on Monday when Brossart will take on the homestanding Bracken County Polar Bears at 8:15pm.
