0k so the lawsuit is over a 2006 law which says:
(2) The executive director shall:
(a) Publicize the findings of the General Assembly stressing the dependence on Almighty God as being vital to the security of the Commonwealth by including the provisions of KRS 39A.285(3) in its agency training and educational materials. The executive director shall also be responsible for prominently displaying a permanent plaque at the entrance to the state's Emergency Operations Center stating the text of KRS 39A.285(3);
so do you think that the american atheists were in the right for file a lawsuit?...also click on the link to find out more so you can form your opinion

That's not Separation of Church and State.
Whoever the people were that passed this bill,....someone please send them a telegram and let them know that The Shakers died off and Kentucky doesn't need a "Jimmy Swaggart" or a "Jim Jones" running Homeland Security.

Last time I checked the Government was made up of people. And they should have the same rights as you and I. Athesists or however you spell it are just blowing this all out of preportion.

What religion is being recognized here? I see you assume its Christianity, but I see no mention of Jesus Christ. Also, noone is being prohibited from exercising their religion. There is no violation of the first amendment as it stands.

well i don't think i mentioned above but there is a plaque when you first enter the building it has a Bible Verse which with that being it implys the christan god not just any god

Hey, as long as their is a seperation of church and state, I'm fine with it, its when those two are together I have a problem with, and this is because the church will use the govt. as a tool to push its agenda and exclude those who are not with that church and before ya know it, its the middle ages all over again, so I may be a Christian, but seperation is key and tolerance is a must if we are to continue as a society.

And what is a bible verse? To some people like myself and others on this board it can give good spiritual advice, as we are Christians. But to non Christians it could just be a good moral advice, or give a positive outlook on the day. What if they were to put up a quote from a book written by Mark Twain, would that mean they are recognizing the Church of Mark Twain? People just want to make a big deal out of nothing. Im sure there are many verses in the Koran which I would view as good ideas, or morally proper. Doesn't make me a Muslim. Just because something is Christian and it is put up doesn't automatically mean that Christiaity is being forced down the throat of everyone. Noone has to read it, but for those who do, it could give them a lift that day, Christian or not.
