Powell disqualified itself from the playoffs already by dropping Harlan Co. from it's schedule.Don't matter if they win every game.....no playoffs for them.

Actually, the KHSAA ruled that we do play Harlan Co and that we do get to play in the playoffs if we make it.

Powell lost 6 seniors last year. And they were still getting used to Whitakers plays and they way he ran his offense and defense. But we should be better this year.

I hope that the Powell Vs Harlan County game happens for sure.I'm glad that those boys get to throw their hats back in the ring for the playoffs. Best of luck to Powell Co. this year!

If I understoof correctly, we will be playing Harlan Co this year instead of Walton Verona. But I may be wrong. But I do know for sure that we can make the playoffs. And thanks and best of luck to Harlan as well.

We'll see.Whitaker just tried to pad his numbers.I don't believe you'll be playing Harlan.

Ok, lol. You believe what you want. And how did Whitaker pad his stats?

There are some things in the works. We (Powell Co.) are talking with Walton Verona about a few things. We are about to get it ironed out. Truth be told, we recieved a voided contract and went ahead and scheduled Walton Verona. Nobody was dodging Harlan.irateSho

By picking up a team that he thoght would be an easy victory for him.He has got himself a CREAM PUFF schedule.By dropping Harlan that disqualifies you from distict competition..........NO playoffs. The coach schedules who he wants.Look at the schedule.Lord all you have is us and Estill.Should go 8&2.

I mean, I talked to the coach and he told me that if we made it to playoffs, we would be able to play.

Should not have signed it and sent it back until the facts were in order. Sorry, I commented again, but if the truth is going to be told, that needed to be put in. Definately not schedule another game until you know what is happening. I don't think Breathitt, Estill, and Fleming signed another team or sent back the voided contract?

I have seemed to upset people in a couple of counties and decided to not respond anymore, I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. However, when comments are made without everything being told, it is hard not to respond.

Are you saying they should beat Fleming? I am not saying they can't, I just would not think they would be favored to beat them.

No I don't think they will beat anyone in our district.

I honestly think Rusell will be one of the best in the 3A this year, if not the best. I know alot of people are having louisvile central, belfry, and breathitt infront of us. I think Russell will be better this year than the 07' season. They were really young and inexperienced that year, even with losing tyler jones, toby hicks adam foster and some others, everybody starting will have more experience and wont be as timid playing this year.

BlackcatAlum Wrote:This seems to be a very interesting district especially since the addition of Harlan County High. Breathitt County dominated the district last season but since the addition of Harlan County, should the Bobcats be worried? IMO, yes they should. The Black Bears are going to give the Bobcats all they can handle this upcoming season, IMO Breathitt will still win the district but by the time the playoffs roll around and the Bears have a full season under there belt it could get quite interesting. And I wouldn't sleep on Estill County either, from my understanding they return their entire backfield from last season. The Bobcats know that they can not take anyone for granted and they usually dismantle the opponents in workman-like fashion, especially in district play. I am sure Breathitt will take Harlan seriously, but Harlan better take Breathitt seriously because Breathitt is capable of putting a game away quickly. As far as Estill and the other teams, they will be good practices for the Bobcats. The subs should get in the games by the 3rd quarter as in last years games. Breathitt will run through the district if they do not get overly cocky and take care of business 1 game at a time. Breathitt returns several players off of last years team and there will be very little if any fall off as far as talent and explosiveness. If they can not get the holes in the defense (corners) fixed, there will be a lot of yards to be had through the air against Breathitt. I just do not think that anyone on their schedule can throw the ball well enough to keep the Bobcat defense off balance.

We are looking forward to having the Bobcats come visit us here in Harlan County this Fall. The Bobcats have earned their respect in football. It should be good mountain football. One game at a time for the Black Bears!!! They have had about 80 out this week practicing. The Freshmen will come out starting Monday. We can't be any more excited.

The coaches were sure putting them to work! I guess we will see in the next few weeks who wants to really be a part of the team. I'm sure they will be a few fall by the way side. They all seemed very focused on what they were doing. lol

You keep responding feller. It's a free country. As long as you pay taxes here, I'll read to whatever you post. Besides, this is football. You don't need to worry about hurting feelings. That's what's wrong with this country. Everybody is afraid to "Hurt Feelings". I guess that's a different post though?...LOL
