Passing League
#1
I was just wondering if you can tell me where your teams players are participatig in passing league. Over here in Letcher County we have a few players going to different areas. I know Charlie Banks is going to a ton of football and basketball camps. I talked to his mom and he is going to Kentucky's camp. Let me know!

Caleb Frazier has been to the Sr day camp at UVA Wise, just finished the Ray Guy Kicking Academy, and has plans on either attending the Combine at Prestonsburg or going back to EKU for their Sr day camp.

I heard Russell looks "real good". From a coach at another school.

Russell always looks good but passing is not their game. False security comes in these passing leagues. Let's face it, Russell is going to line up and smash the ball down your throat and if you can stop it you have a chance if not, you know the answer!

With AJ at the helm ,, you may see the DEVILS pass for over 1500 yards this year. They return every receiver from last year where Tyler threw for over 900 yards. AJ has the arm and the receivers have the legs, arms and hands for this year to be a more balanced attack, And if that does not work then yes we will run it down your throat.
BUT the pass will be fun to watch this year.

Well from what i saw at johnson central...we wont be passing...AJ threw 3 interceptions down the sideline...they were good balls...he just couldnt get them there...his recievers out ran him...at east carter tuesday...guess what...aj never threw the deep ball....we will not be a passing team

A.J. probably just needs some time to work off some rust after he gets in a groove im sure that he will be fine, but if all else fails than yes we doo still have the running game

Prestonsburg plays Sheldon Clark tomorrow at Prestonsburg, the Blackcats will be without junior quarterback Michael Burchett. I believe Chris Schoolcraft will throw for Prestonsburg.

How many teams will be at P'burg? I was told by some players that there were going to be several. Any truth?

From my understanding its just Sheldon Clark & Prestonsburg... they may throw Pike Central in there since Prestonsburg was going to play them yesterday but weather kept that from happening.

OKAY !! When we played JC we only ran three pass patterns right... We scored after 3 plays... Justin Mitchell quit running on a play and told AJ that he did, that led to one interception. Just saying that if you only run the 3 same plays everytime. You SHOULD be able to read the play and get a jump onthe ball... DDUUHHH!!!

Not sure on the final but I believe Sheldon Clark won today, it was pretty close.

The Blackcats where without starting QB Michael Burchett, leading WR last season Austin Gearheart, and starting LB/S Austin McKinney. Freshman Matt Crisp was the starter for Prestonsburg today, he threw 3 interceptions, senior Blake Meade led Prestonsburg in receptions, and freshman standout Joseph Jamerson had 2 touchdown receptions. The Blackcats done a good job on defense also but made some mental mistakes that cost them. Joseph Jamerson, Seth Setser, and Matt Sword all had interceptions for the Blackcats.

Overall fun 7 on 7 to watch.

well I finally got to watch ALL the passing league games on film and to comment about AJ CORDLE, A little rusty for the first series but they scored, NOW saying that I watch 6 balls hit receivers hands and then dropped.... Is he throwin gthe ball too hard for the receivers to catch or are the receivers just as rusty as the QB.. WELL thats called getting in the groove. I noticed that less balls wer dropped and then better and better. I will stand by the bet of a water becasue I thin kI am going to thirsty from yelling during all the TD's this year....
Listen I will say this for everyone to hear,, If you have a problem with AJ because of who you are, you better get over it. You guys better start playing and thinking as a team. Get over yourself if you think you Are better than someone else at a position, or becasue someone gets to play becasue of who his daddy is or how much money your family has... YOU HAVE TO BE READY WHEN YOUR CHANCE COMES !!!!!!!!!!!
AJ should have been the QB last year and Jones should ran at RB but thats not my call neither is this years lineup,, not my call and not your call, so play where you can and be apart of something bigger that you. Be a team.

Anybody around here played or heard anything on how Shelby Valley is looking?

Good thing Russell isnt a passing team, or they would be in serious trouble.

There hosting a passing camp Friday, as far as I know Prestonsburg will be going to it.

From what I've seen of the couple of tournaments I've been to, I think all of the "running" teams have held their own. I personally think it is great to see these teams throw it all over the place in June and then throw it 50 times during the year. I look for Russell, Sheldon Clark, and Johnson Central to break out in 5 wide come August. haha
#21
Got word that Prestonsburg had there way with everyone that was at Shelby Valley's camp today... What were the scores from today at Valley and who attended?

Have you ever seen Byron Leftwich throw? The man has a cannon. AJ has it to.

Devil wouldn't you say that coach Ivan is much to smart to show his best passing plays at a passing camp?

The entire offense only consists of 8 plays. Do what you know and execute it well. That is pretty smart.
#25
Does anyone know how Pike Central, East Ridge, or Shelby Valley have been doing?
#26
Pike Central was at Shelby Valley but they were missing a couple, they didnt look to good.

execution execution execution.

In theory 1 play would work if ever body did thier job. Ilove the idea of taking a few plays and executing them very well. It makes it so much easier for the kids and coaching staff to learn. When a hs coach has 50 plays somebody is always confused.

I went and watched Prestonsburg at UK's passing tourney this weekend and here are some observations that I came away with:

1. Qb Burchett looked good he had some really nice balls and just overall had a solid showing.

2. Rb's setser and craynon both looked good receiving the ball and honestly I think pburg could have a very good passing game but we all know that wont be our main offensive scheme.

3.Pburg went 2-2 i believe for the day and I know they defeated Emminence from Oldham county and i cant remeber the other win but lost to Henry Clay by four and Shelby County by 4.

4. Over on another field they had the lineman challenge and pburg won one of the challenges called tire flip. It was led by Alex Garner, Dalton Fulks, Justin Trout, Zach Bragg and chris bostic. There were about 6-8 different teams competing in it including two teams from south carolina, chester and Greenville. Greenville as yuou may know is the hometown team of UK S Matt Lentz and continualy produces D-1 talent so hopefully UK will get some of their players this year!

It was a great tourney that was ran very well and was extremely fun to watch!
