Yes, I was at the 74-39 game, watched it, look at the first round of the regional tournament, look at that score, 56-52 I think, much closer, they have a couple of nice athletes and are returning pretty much 95% of all played minutes

59-54 was the score of that game. They did play them well that game, but Scott County shot the ball terribly that game, and i'm not making excuses Franklin played them well that game, but it was still clear to everyone that was a one-time thing, and Scott County is just clearly the better team, and will definetlly be next season.

He will end up being another Mark Coury or Jared Carter.

I love to see Ky kids play at Ky but with that being said Euton has a small chance of ever being anything but a small time role player. I hear from alot of people in that area that his dad is a great PR man and those in that area know if that is true or not. Sometimes players get alot of PR especially if they are good players at a young age but if they dont improve they are just mediocre college players. If you really want to watch a player that can play at the UK level and not have any doubts about it watch Hopson. This kid is unreal and you can watch him for 2 minutes and tell that. Miller,Hopson,Liggins, etc are the kind of players that will do well at UK..I hope Euton proves me wrong but I have watched him play 5 or 6 times and I dont think he can compete at that level...JMO

Well the kid is headed to Scott Co. Here is your evidence.
Ashland — Rose Hill Christian’s Dakotah Euton, considered to be the state’s top sophomore basketball player, is headed to Scott County High School.
Euton’s father, Clay, has taken a job with Lexington-based CMTA Engineering, Inc., after spending the last 20 years at Woolpert, Inc.
“Woolpert decided to shut down the Ashland office and gave me an opportunity to transfer to Charlotte, Orlando or Cincinnati,’’ Clay Euton said. “I decided to just try to find another position somewhere else. I interviewed with the firm I use to work for in Lexington (CMTA) and decided to accept a position.’’
The Eutons bought a house in Georgetown this past weekend and Clay is scheduled to begin his new job on April 21.
Clay Euton said in another published report that the family seriously considered Charlotte, but Dakotah wanted to stay in the Bluegrass State and pursue a goal of winning Kentucky’s Mr. Basketball award.
“If he will win it or not I don’t know, but I didn’t want to take away his chance,’’ his father said.
Dakotah, who verbally committed to the University of Kentucky last spring, averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds this season as Rose Hill finished 20-11 against a formidable schedule. The Royals advanced to the semifinals of both the Touchstone Energy All “A’’ Classic and 16th Region Tournament.
Clay Euton said that Dakotah will probably begin attending classes at Scott County at the beginning of May.

Euton needed a better coach if he his to play at the d1 level. His foot speed are what most scouts say he needs work on and more inside play calling for the ball. He has the potential to be very good but he must seek out those that can help him grow.

I hope he is as good as they say he is. No more Jared Carter's are needed at UK. It's already hurt them enough as it is. He was a waste of a scholarship.

It is a good thing that the KHSAA are watching schools to cut out the recruiting that goes on....This is the biggest year I have ever seen for kids moving in and out....It all depends on what school you are and is based on politics....With that being said Phares is so much better than Euton that it is not funny...Euton will have a hard time getting playin time there
03-22-2008, 08:13 PM
Euton will not have a hard time getting playing time at Scott Co or any other high school. Phares will probably play the 5 and Euton the 4.
The addition of Euton does not however elevate Scott Co to the favorite to win the Sweet 16 next year as some have posted elsewhere. Scott County's biggest deficiency this year was at the point guard position, not down low. The Cards must develop a point guard before next season. Don't get me wrong, SC will always be a threat to win it all as long as Hicks is there.

Well that's why it would make sense if Jackson went as well. That is a position he can definetly play.

Jackson would benefit any team he transfers to, including Scott County. I have also read Jackson will transfer to either Bryan Station and Lex Christian. Who knows where he will end up. I have read his father lives in Lexington and his mom lives in Georgetown. Is this true?

The following was posted on another web site by a KHSAA official.
"Under the current framework of the KHSAA, a family DOES have the right to determine which school his child attends. In a public school situation, they have the right by virtue of geography. In other words, if a family sees a school that it believes provides better opportunities (sports/band/ROTC/math, whatever) then that family can choose to put their kid at that school by moving into the district. Its a free country, and KHSAA CANNOT prohibit people from moving or accepting a new job.
In private school, a family can choose to commute 2 hours a day if they wish, and not have to move or take a new job.
Both scenarios are within the rules of KHSAA.
What is not within the rules or the spirit of the rules are the situations you describe. Parents being provided coaching jobs, or other jobs within the community. Parents being given free or cheap housing.
As to your contention... I would say this: KHSAA should not have a say in TRANSFERS when within the rules, they should have a say when it comes to RECRUTING. Big difference. So yes, there are definitely cases where KHSAA must investigate to determine the difference between transferring and being recruited. Any discrepancy should be addressed.
I agree it is wrong for a coach to seek out a player and arrange for transfers or jobs. What I think is what Mud replied to you... often a school's program "recruits itself" and when that school has built a winning reputation, players/families gravitate toward the program. Then the assertions of "recruiting" are overblown, mainly out of envy from the have-nots.
One last thing... I absolutely HATE to read or hear somebody say "WE ALL KNOW that happens". Bullcrap. Speak for yourself, not "we all". And you yourself pretty much admit you don't know, but it is only your opinion that Scott Co. has recruited.
If your "opinions" about Scott Co. or a Central KY football power are so strong, report this inside knowledge you have to the KHSAA and follow it up. Otherwise, quit posting your "opinions" as if they are "facts"."
I thought his/her comments spelled it out fairly plainly.
