...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

A WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.

THE LATEST WEATHER FORECASTS INDICATE THAT MORE WINTRY PRECIPITATION WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION ON THURSDAY. THE PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY START AS SLEET AND SNOW NORTH OF A LINE FROM HARTFORD TO RICHMOND...WITH AREAS SOUTH OF THAT LINE SEEING AN INITIAL MIX OF RAIN AND FREEZING RAIN. BY THURSDAY NIGHT...THE SLEET AND SNOW WILL CHANGE TO A MIX OF SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN ACROSS SOUTHERN INDIANA AND THE NORTHERN HALF OF KENTUCKY. SIGNIFICANT ICING AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE POSSIBLE... ESPECIALLY IN AREAS NORTH OF A LINE FROM HARTFORD TO RICHMOND.

THERE IS STILL QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY WITH REGARDS TO THE DEVELOPMENT AND TRACK OF THIS STORM.

The announcement above calls for a winter storm watch, but from the local weathermen, they are saying that there is a possibility of an ice storm...maybe some snow.

...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING...

MORE WINTRY WEATHER IS ON ITS WAY STARTING ON THURSDAY MORNING. THE PRECIPITATION WILL MOST LIKELY START OUT AS SLEET OR SNOW AND TURN TO FREEZING RAIN. THE FREEZING RAIN WILL START IN THE SOUTH AND THEN SLOWLY WORK ITS WAY TO THE NORTH THROUGH THE EARLY AFTERNOON. ONCE THE FREEZING RAIN PASSES...THEN LIGHT RAIN WILL CONTINUE. ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON..THE FREEZING RAIN WILL STALL AROUND THE I 64 CORRIDOR AND THEN START TO SLOWLY MOVE SOUTH AS THE EVENING PROGRESSES. THE FREEZING RAIN WILL THEN START MOVING BACK NORTH ON FRIDAY MORNING AND WILL BE ENDING BY MID MORNING ON FRIDAY. THE AREA THAT IS MOST VULNERABLE FOR SIGNIFICANT FREEZING RAIN IS GENERALLY NORTH OF THE MOUNTAIN PARKWAY. THE AREA NORTH OF I 64 HAS THE GREATEST POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATION...AS WELL AS FREEZING RAIN. THERE IS STILL QUITE A BIT OF UNCERTAINTY WITH REGARDS TO THE DEVELOPMENT AND TRACK OF THIS STORM.

I don't know. After hearing Bailey talk about it on his blog, it seems like this might not be as potent as they originally thought.

I kind of hope we don't get it... Floyd County schools are already scheduled to go until June, and that means that we will have longer days to make up for missed days. Now I sure don't want to goto school no longer than I already have too.

I get out at the same time no matter what, so I hope we do get out out.

We got our "approximate" date of closing today.... for most Pike schools... its either May 29th or 30th. BUT... that is right now... without missing any more days...

After that stupid CATS test, kids don't do anything for a month in school. A week after CATS test, high schools could give semester tests and call it a day.

You know now that you mention the CATS test I read an interesting article today. They are actually trying to do away with the accountability test for the high school age kids. They want ALL children in grades 9-12 to take the ACT test early.

In elementary and middle schools, portfolios would not be held in with accountability any more but they would still be tested.

Sounds good, I know they went and gave Juniors a free ACT two years after I graduate. Wish they would have came up with this stuff while I was in school.
