whats so bad about playin at powell? yes, powell plays 10 times better there and calls do tend to go their way at home, but the same officials call the games elsewhere. i see it as a great place to play...no team in the district and not many teams in the region draw a crowd as big as powell does, it should be a great experience for any visiting player. its a tournament like atmosphere almost every game.

You think Owsley's too little. Then why is it never filled to capacity when the other 3 district teams visit there during the season? Seems to me that it is more than big enough to handle those games.
Now I do admit that it is a little crowded during the years they host the district tournament. But that's just one time in 4 years of the rotation, and one can't expect them to give up their turn in the rotation.

As far as best gym, I would have to say Powell. It is the newest of the 4 gyms, seats by far more than the other 3 (and I've never seen it full either except for the regional tournament), and has much more parking than the others.

as far a powell's gym never being full...u must have not been to any estill vs. powell matchups over the past few years. powell a quarter full is more than owsley or lee packed.

i think estill is planning for a new gym this summer.

4. Owsley (Way to small and not enough exits in case of an emergency or fire!!)

Best places to watch a district game...
1. Lee (Anything can happen here, including spectators getting thrown out and returning in a police uniform)
2. Owsley (Small but great atmosphere when packed)
3. Powell (Especially when they host the region)
4. Estill (Only been there a few times, so not a knock against their gym)

You wasn't there through the '90s then. Lee had only their most loyal fans at that time, about 100 people. I guess success breeds fan support.:rockon:

I'm always at the Owsley games and I don't recall any team having more fans than the Owls. I know it is small and the roof, is short, but you have to say it is a nice, well taken care of gym for one that is over 30 years old.

I don't like playing in any of them. Way to far to travel for all the other schools in the 14th. Wouldn't be upset if they made all 4 of them along with wolfe county change to another region, at least Estill and Powell should move anyways. But since that won't happen, if I had to pick,
1) Powell, nicest and biggest gym
2) Owsley, best hospitality rooms during the tourneys when they host
3) Estill, nice gym just way to far from others in the region
4) Lee, hard to beat them there, and worst fans of the whole region
