Pike County Football
#1
This thread is about Pike County teams.

How does all the teams in Pike County compare to other teams in the state?

Why is most Pike County always picked to lose when playing teams from out of the area?

How can some of the Pike County Teams Improve?

Belfry 3A-8 14-1
*Belfry is going to be dominate in Pike Co for a few more years there middle school and little leauge is out standing!

Pikeville 1A-8 9-4
*Pikeville without Coach J could be questionable. but Im sure the coach they hire can lead them back two state.

Shelby Valley 2A-7 6-6
*Wildcats imporved tremoundously this year. Now with a combined jr high football program, things might look up at Valley in 2-3 years!

Pike County Central 3A-8 4-7
*Pike Central started out great winning 4 of there first 5 games. but than something happend on buckleys creek the hawks went winless in there last 6 games.

East Ridge 3A-8 2-8(0-10)
*ER started this season off very good with a win at the PCB over in-county rival Phelps and came so close of beating Grundy the warriors started to slip as they were deafted by in-district rivals Belfry, Sheldon Clark, and Pike Central. Er got back on track with a win over Knott Central. during the seasn the KHSAA stripped ER of both wins by useing an illeaglibe player.

Phelps 1A-8 1-9(2-8)
*Phelps under first year coach Bruce Jones had high hopes, but like many Phelps teams they fell short of a playoff run. phelps finished last in the district 0-5. they only won 1 actuall game by deafeting Hurley, VA.

How can some of these teams improve? Meanly Phelps, ER, PCC, and SV.

Belfry and Pikeville will be the head of the class in Pike County.
SV and PC will be mediocre as always.
ER and Phelps will once again be the bottom feeders combining for 1-3 wins.

That is about as truthful and blunt as one can be.

No offense to any teams, but Belfry & Pikeville are the most two dominate schools in the area.

As elite and powerful as Pikeville supposedly is, it would have been interesting to see them play mediocre Pike Central or mediocre Sheldon Clark the past couple of years. Don't say no competition because you can check the games these teams played against Belfry to see who competed mediocre this year.

So it wouldn't have been interesting for Pikeville to play Valley even though Valley beat Pike Central pretty easy?

The thread is about Pike co football and SC isn't in pike county but everyone knows that we would beat Pikeville handily especially the past few seasons

Yea why bring us SC? but they would wouldn't have to compete to awful hard lol joking. But really Pike Central just isn't on the same level as Pikeville, and it's sad because they have a tons of kids, but can't develop them well early on.

It might be the feeder schools. I know Kimper doesn't have a football team so that knocks out some players. (Gordon Varney was from Kimper so you can't say that they don't have talent somewhere) And I know Mullins and Johns Creek do have football teams, but I never hear about them. But I hear about Belfry's and Pikeville's non-stop. I'm not saying its the coaches, but maybe some people just aren't that dedicated to making these feeder schools and outstanding team? Just a guess...I don't know

Speaking on behalf of one of BMS players from this year.... HARD WORK and a LOT of dedication from both players and coaches.... I guess that is why the high school program is what it is..... the kids are well aware of what is expected of them when they move up.

I though the kids from Kimper, went to Johns Creek after school and played ball. That was the way they did it when i was young.

belfry will be the best in pike co. pc has lost a bunch of people and pikeville did too.. so it will be a toss up... but the other schools have new ppl.. and so i think we should jus wait til next year to c
