The bulldogs have something to look forward to this year that's for sure.
Qb is as good as they come and can really key in on the pass. Had some real nice passes downfield.
This year is looking bright in Louisa

Prestonsburg's weaknesses were exposed tonight, but that's the point of these scrimmages. You want to know where teams can hurt you at so you can adjust.
Blackcats started the scrimmage about as well as they could've hoped for. Went up 14-0 with like 5 or so mins to go in the first quarter. I thought they might blow LC out for a moment. Then LC's speed and their QB just took over, and they never looked back.
Lawerence County is VERY skilled. I thought Prestonsburg defended the run really well, but once guys started going down with injuries, especially our best OLB's, they struggled defending most runs to the outside or QB read option. Everything between the tackles Prestonsburg jammed up and defended well. I also don't think LC varsity threw one incompletion tonight. That QB for Lawrence is one of the best I've seen at the high school level in a while. Very gifted player. 22 is a burner for LC on the outside. The Bulldogs will be a force in 3A this season.
Tonight was humbling for Prestonsburg in many ways, but I still think this is a team capable of winning a regional championship. They have a lot to work on and again, this is the point of scrimmages. This is an excellent coaching staff, they'll make the right adjustments and get these boys where they need to be to compete for November. Added Grant Bingham to the staff this week, so I know that'll help a lot as well going forward.
Best of luck to Lawerence County this season... Go Blackcats!!!

The Dawg's looked pretty solid tonight, to be so early in a preseason game. They need to sure a few things up on both sides, but especially on defense. Saw a lot of missed tackels on defense that need addressed, but overall pretty good.

Other than that, they looked great.
They'll make noise in 3A.

Good scrimmage for both teams I felt like. I think both saw some things they liked and can build upon and several coaching moments throughout. Prestonsburgs quarterback looked good, I thought he ran the offense very well. He has some elusiveness to him and throws a good ball. #6 is a burner and showcased it on the TD run. As mentioned by others, several missed tackles early on for LC. The first drive was really nice for the Blackcats then they get a stop and then the long TD run by #6. Dawgs were down 14-0 and then the lights came on and flood gates opened, Bulldogs scored 35 unanswered.
Quarterback for LC looked as sharp as I’ve seen him. He made all the throws, deep passes and short ones looked good. He showcased his legs on read option plays. That kid is a playmaker. He even had an INT on defense.
Offensively, Bulldogs still need to work on running game, line blocking and missed tackles. Once they get those improved they will be dangerous in my opinion.
The Blackcats will be dangerous. They are well coached, good fundamentals, nice players, line is big and they get after you on defense. I expect the Blackcats to have another strong season in 2A. I talked with some of the players and a coach and they are as respectful and well-mannered as you will see. They love their football and it’s so good to see Blackcat football restored to its glory days. Best of luck to Pburg all season and will be following them.

I have been critical of Lawrence the past couple years and mentioned one of their biggest downfalls was an overall lack of fast twitch fibers. They seemed to struggle with playmakers who could turn a 5 yard gain into a 50 with one step or move.
I am feeling more and more that between players developing in the off season or some of this young talent coming up that LC is about to find that explosiveness this year and when you have a very skilled dual threat QB that can become lethal.
Watch out for the Bulldogs… I am not sure enough 3A folks know what they are potentially capable of.

I tell everyone, they are a sleeper in Class 3A. I would imagine if they keep doing what they’re doing, they won’t be for long.

Watched this game and my take. Not enough players out, should see at least 50 which creates depth. Linemen don’t need to go both ways! The lack of size will be the only thing holding LC back

One of the biggest problems for LB's and DB's to stop running backs that I see all the time, at every level, but especially highschool. They have the runner lined up perfectly, but then they hesitate and allow the runner to control the situation, and they stop to soon and wait for the runner to come to them, instead of meeting them in the middle. This allows the runner to take whatever angle he wants, and can make whatever move he wants. Any RB worth his salt will win that battle 100% of the time. And if the RB has some speed and twitch to him, then that back will be trying to tackle thin air, wandering what just happened, while the RB is housing it.

Absolutely, you can’t sit back and wait on the back to control what you do as a backer, you have to be the aggressor. I thought after the first couple of drives, Lawrence got better at doing just that.

I'll be pulling for both of these teams in the regular season. Especially Lawrence Co. I'm at Yatesville Lake so much at times, might as well have a mailbox to collect my mail there Lol And I gotta be honest, I really miss that Docks Pizza place. Ate there all the time, best pizza ever.

Heard from a Hager that Aj Johnson might’ve broken his collarbone last night.
