Seven picks or there were seven teams involved in the trade?
I saw that Houston gave up the #10 pick in this year's draft (makes sense for a team that already has so many young players) and five 2nd Round picks. There's a huge difference in 1st and 2nd Round draft picks in the NBA. Depending on how well you think the respective teams may do, pick swaps are far more valuable than 2nd Round picks IMO.
If you are young team expecting to contend for awhile, giving up five second round picks isn't a lot. Odds are that if you are picking late, three of those five might not even be rostered for more than a year.

I'd just heard the other day something about 7 teams being involved in the trade. It'd been awhile since I'd made this post. I thought Houston traded KD off in another trade! I thought man I gotta go back and redo this post lol
Went and looked and KD and Reed Sheppard are still with Houston. I'd also heard Sheppard was traded but he wasn’t. Idk much about technology but for some reason my phone pulls up alot of false news sources, when it comes to sports like that!

I can see why everyone involved made the move. KD has bounced around a bit since leaving Oklahoma City-- Golden State, Brooklyn, and Phoenix for ~3 years apiece, now Houston.
He's 36 with a lot of miles-- going deep into the playoffs takes a toll on players and he's been in more than two full seasons worth of playoff games. Phoenix just invested a ton in Booker; he's been in the league awhile but came in really young and is only 28.
Don't think Durant is the answer for Houston if they're looking to make a really deep run, but he's probably going to be the difference in one to two seed lines and a playoff series if they sit him during the regular season and save him up for a playoff run.
Will be interesting to see how he impacts the locker room. They let Durant go for a bunch of second round picks (which is better than nothing) and it looks like they're going to let Beal go as well, so things might not have been great behind closed doors.
Nothing would surprise me with Sheppard in Houston. Seemed like they were auditioning him around the trade deadline this season and not so sure that they aren't doing the same thing this summer. Imagine that it may be somewhere in between seeing what he could contribute for them in spot duty and gauging his peak trade value. Shutting him down within the last 24 hours really doesn't move the needle in terms of clarity either.
