If there was a glitch in the space-time continuum this guy would trace it back to recruiting and/or Ashland players living outside the city limits.
You mean in district. Some don’t even live in the county. The glitch is recruitment. How many you think APB will get next year? What is the over under. I’m saying 3

It’s been real fun watching the complete domination of what was a friendly rival between the school with lots of recruits and the school that’s best player was recruited from said prep school. LOL
Zander is from and lives in Greenup currently. No Ashland kid plays any significant minutes. Lyons may get 1 or 2 minutes if he plays which is APB best player. The next best player is the lynch kid. Lol
I heard this today. Bonner and Lee got reported for Lee recording the Fleming Boyd game on his phone! I heard Biggs called Bonner and Lee out about it and of course Bonner says he had no idea. Like he does with everything else when comes to recruitment issues as well. Now it’s breaking the bylaws of friend/mentor! Biggs let him have it in a phone conversation with Both Lee and Bonner and told them they are cheaters and that why they get no respect and teams hate them. Also to never reach out to him again for anything. Sounds like a great program. You can’t even make this crap up. I stood shaking my head when I heard it.
Sounds serious. I’d say that cell phone video was a lot more useful than the steams from MyTown and KoolTV readily available to every human on earth. I’d say it was worth the risk though. Heck I’m going to make a call right now to the tech company I contracted to film my son’s wedding. I’ll tell them I have my iPhone so their services won’t be needed.
Yeah it is a huge rule violation. You might read a rule book. The rule is to ensure teams not cheating by stealing calls with audio. I feel as if having to explain the most elementary rules to a bunch of Ashland arrogant individuals who think the rules don't apply to them. Just everyone else. I bet Fanman is well aware of this rule. He tends to be the only one that will look it up when mentioned.
To put it in perspective. Think Michigan filming practices and etc of their biggest rival. That is why he got fired! Khsaa is a joke and won’t do anything about it. I82much your post really makes you look oblivious to anything related to basketball and the rules which govern it. Read, knowledge is power.
Well, you're right. I'm oblivious to a lot of things and basketball is one of them. My point wasn't to debate a rule but to imply the unlikelihood of someone trying to use a cell phone in that situation to get anything of substance while in the middle of the riskiest situation possible. Crazier things have happened I guess? I was just taking a light hearted jab at your comment, that's it. Also, still praying for Jacob's injury and hoping for good news and a speedy recovery.

Ashland kids may or may not live in the city of Ashland and guess what they have been ruled eligible and it don’t matter if they are from a-town or B- town. Get over your team lost again and the only one that crying is you. I’ve read your comment about living rent free. The last 7 years has been very hard on you and those 7 regional titles and really nobody cares about runner up and or district or winning regular season games. They all want to lose at Rupp. Ashland has done that the last 7 years.

I’ll be honest I really don’t care if you win the region and then get beat the very next game or two. If you don’t win the state then you are in the same boat. 7x loser. For some reason it’s a big deal to play one more game to you! lol.
Unfortunately I see how you and a lot of people think who are in charge. You don’t care about your kids that actually come up through your program. Elementary school and middle school. Soon as they hit high school. They are recruited over. That is the culture at APB. Currently I’m hearing you have some issues going on there with parents of kids that play there and they are not happy about the culture of recruiting. I can care less. You all that say I repeat or cry. Far from the truth. It’s just reporting your actions. Bring light to actually what’s going. No development. Just recruit other coaches work when they done the work. Pathetic

I was simply pointing out the statement you made as being incorrect.
You said in that same statement that someone shouldn’t speak on a situation they do not know about in regard to Childers. Wise statement. You should listen to it.
As a parent in Russell district and a kid on the team I know more than you think and can “tell all the story not just the ending.” Neel moved prior to enrollment. I personally know this. APB coach was in the gym. In fact he was in the gym multiple times training multiple players from our team. Some of Russell coaches admitted to players that they wanted to make sure Neel couldn’t play and make things hard. When AD and superintendent submitted video and letter they left out information making KHSAA believe that APB coach was there once and that staff had no idea.
Why did it get overturned? Maybe because multiple Russell parents testified in hearing that APB coach was their kids trainer and staff was aware. Neel family provided text messages of coaching staff asking about training sessions which showed staff knew about the trainer. Neel’s and trainer confirmed that he had been training Elijah since elementary school long before he was an APB coach. None of us were happy he left. He’s a great kid and player. He’s still friends with my son. We are cheering for him and Ashland. And the same would be said if Boyd was going to Rupp. We would be cheering for them.

Yes the coaching staff did know he was coming in their gym. He told them to stop due to the apparent rule violation and not having permission to do so.
They did not move before. The address they gave was a fake. At this point. The khsaa has given APB a pass to break every rule when it comes to protecting kids from a predictor program who seeks other schools kids out and sells them lies. I blame the parents not being able to see through the BS and putting their kids in situations where you lose eligibility. Like in his case. To possibly win a region!? If he stays at Russell, smith at BC and Hoskins at Morgan. Ashland would have struggled this year in the region.

Again. False. I talked with the dad the day they moved. We visited the home on day 1. They still live in the same place as listed on lease and enrollment. KHSAA and APB visited the home.
Coaching staff knew about the trainer. It was Russell AD that put a stop to him coming into Russell facilities.

He didn’t when he enrolled. That’s why he was not eligible for almost the entire season. Also with the APB coach in the Russell gym on video with Neel days before he enrolled that was handed to the khsaa. Tell all the story not the ending. Lol

I don't have a dog in this either way but what I can tell you is that I have for the past 25 years ran the OVC Conference (7th and 8th grade league) Ashland won the 7th grade title in 2024 and the 8th grade title this year without their two top 8th graders not even playing on the middle school team. Boyd won this year's 7th grade title even without their big 6'7" 7th grade playing so I am just saying that both Ashland and Boyd will be pretty good for the next 4 to 5 years if the kids that are currently in their middle schools stay.

Couple of thoughts:
Living in this area, it’s understandable why Ashland and Boyd County have this elitism about themselves when it comes to their basketball programs. They have pretty much ruled the region for quite some time.
With that being said, everyone that follows high school basketball in the state of Kentucky should be able to agree that the 16th region is one of the worst regions in the state talent wise. And at the end of the day, no one cares that you went to the sweet 16. Sure it is an accomplishment, but second place is the first loser. Until you can win a state championship, no one really cares how many regional championships or district championships you win, especially in this weak region.
Since 2018 season for Ashland:
2018 : Lost by 30 in round 2
2019 : COVID
2020 : Lost in semifinals by 16
2021 : Lost by 11 in round 1
2022 : Lost by 16 in round 1
2023 : Lost by 2 in Round 1
2024 : ?
In their past five trips to Rupp (no one went COVID year) They have lost by double digits in every single defeat except last year. They have exited in round one three out of five times. They’ve only made it past round two once.
The point is at some juncture you’re going to have to quit hanging your hat on regional and district championships and actually win a state tournament game. The last time Ashland won a state tournament was in the 1960s. You can load your team up with as much talent in this area that you want, it’s not going to be enough to beat these teams that have kids committed to blue blood programs like Kentucky.
For me, it feels like all the fun gets sucked out of basketball once the regional tournament ends, because I know that no team from this region is ever standing a chance at winning the whole thing.

Other than the Mays recording, there is no case for a potential recruiting violation. The dad was shopping his kid around on the call. Which is a violation as well.
The Neel kid’s trainer was ruled no violation. He had trained that young man for years before Neel ever played at Russell. Russell knew he was training him at their gym and lied about it on the stand. No integrity left in that Administration or Bball Staff. They willingly lied at the cost of hurting a kid. So that is a non-issue.
Boyd played a recruited kid on their roster this year. He never moved! Without him they would have been beaten in the semi-finals of the region. Boyd County can’t have their cake and eat it too. Let’s not even start a conversation about the girl’s basketball and baseball teams! Lol

There isn't an area school that hasn't taken in a kid from another district and this includes Boyd. They had multiple kids on the baseball team who were from Ashland. The girls basketball team has at least two girls who came from Ashland and the girls soccer team had at least one. Hoopfan is more upset with the quality of the kids that transfer to Ashland.

The way basketball is set up in the state of Kentucky, it doesn’t matter who makes it from the 16th region. You could have Jesus Christ starting on Ashland or Boyd County or any other 16th region team and they are not going to win a state championship in basketball. Not in today’s era. In the 60s, 70s, 80s and maybe even 90s it was possible. But in today’s time with social media, AAU, and the lax rules on transferring, teams around here in northern Kentucky are not going to compete with schools out of Lexington and Louisville.
So many people have moved out of this area because there’s no work, the economy sucks, drugs are everywhere. There just isn’t the talent to grab like there was back then. Those bigger areas have way too much talent to choose from.
It doesn’t help the way that basketball is set up. Kentucky is one of a handful of several states who combine all teams into one tournament. That’s why in football teams like Ashland and Raceland have legitimate shots at state titles, because it’s class based. Imagine if in football every team played in one tournament.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy to see local teams have success, but it’s just way too hard for a team from our area to realistically expect to go to Rupp and win not one, not two, not three but FOUR games to be a state champion against elite competition.

This is exactly what I have been saying. APB robs kids from the entire 16th region and then acts like they are something. What it does show. IF you get to actually go out and pick up players you want from the region and water the region down and still loses when you get the Sweet 16. You need to question your coaching.
Lol
Are you seeing a pattern?
You keep throwing stones at Ashland and they keep proving how resilient they are!
As I said before, Hypocrisy at its finest!

Living in this area, it’s understandable why Ashland and Boyd County have this elitism about themselves when it comes to their basketball programs. They have pretty much ruled the region for quite some time.

I guess Mays admitting that he recruited Bell from Russell, Deboard from BC, Porter from Elliot, and Carter from Greenup on that same call was nothing. You all really have issues. APB has no winning culture in Basketball, they have active recruitment. Promising kids and parents is morally wrong. Boyd had one transfer on their roster who lives in BC before he ever enrolled. BC would have won the Region game if Spur does not get hurt by kid placing his foot under his when landing. BC wins that game by 15-20. Bonner made no adjustments and BC was exploiting APB.
I will say APB is resilient to the rules and breaking them. They are one of the best in the state at it. Let me say this for the people who struggle to have a rational thought. Kids transfer, I agree, not a super uncommon thing. When you have coaches going after your kids. That is the problem with adults in sports. High School coaches like JM or RB who weren't great players compensating by cheating as high school coaches. It is really pathetic.
Girls coach brought here daughter? duh! The group of kids who left APB didn't like the culture or the coach at APB. Some went to other schools as well. With the latest coach getting arrested for some sort of child charges and police cars at the school arresting him is a super bad look for the school.
