I don't see any major happening.

54th would be better if it was Perry, Hazard, Leslie, and Cordia. Move Buckhorn to Breathitts three team district. This would give LCC 4 teams in their district.

The reason they won't do this is because it actually makes sense.

I would not mind seeing this happen, I think the bigger issue is the Regions, they need to be realigned more than anything, the 14th cant play region at LCC cause it is too far of a drive for Estill and Powell. Need to reconstruct the regions better I think and then reconstruct the districts based on the new regions.

They do this a lot with Football it seems, why not basketball and baseball?

Powell is in the rotation for boys region so lcc should be able to host if it’s based on travel, how fair is that for lcc to travel to Powell for region but then to say it’s too far for Powell/estill to travel to lcc? The region should be held at either pcc or knott every year, centrally located and big enough to accommodate fans and parking.

I think that each district should have 1 team to host the region. 53rd (KCC), 54th (PCC), 55th (Breathitt), 56th (Powell). I think they use to be several years ago their was some districts that had two teams hosting the regional tournament. I think if two districts are gonna have two teams host regional tournaments then each district should be allowed to have two teams to host the regional tournament or try to have it at a big venue like EKU, Morehead or the Expo Center in Pikeville. JMO I don't think it would be fair for one team/school to always host the region, to me that gives that team/school always an upper hand.

It’s not based on travel. It’s based on allowing each district a turn in the rotation and choosing, within their district, what school they want as their representative. So, that’s usually the largest gym in each district. That would be Knott Central in the 53rd, Perry Central in the 54th, Breathitt in the 55th and Powell in the 56th. It is a four year rotation since there are four districts.

I was just answering the “travel” comment about region hosting saying lcc was too far for Powell/estill to drive, but then we ask lcc to drive to Powell so it’s apples to apples in that discussion.

Powells gym is too small and breathitt has zero parking so it’s always a problem when there but at kcc and pcc they have the best of both worlds. Would be nice if other schools could use their facilities to “host” but this is the real world and that ain’t happening.

Reconstruct the regions?
Much easier said that done when you try to realign an entire state. You can't change one without changing another and then another.
The 14th may have to add teams eventually, but I don't see them taking away Letcher. They have several schools barely hanging on with low enrollment. They aren't kicking anyone out because of a long drive.

Here we go. someones little baby got beat now wanting realignment. Lace em up and play. Society has become soft as baby &^%& and parents pour it down on kids. No wonder so many kids transfer every year. parents have made athletes believe if it gets tough quit and go somewhere else so it isn't so hard on them.

OBI to the 14th would make a lot of sense. They play as many 14th region teams as 13th and geographically are a fit.

I think there will be with the Carter County schools consolidating. I'd like to see either one of these things happen:

1. Montgomery County move to the 16th Region and 61st District, move Rowan to 62nd with Carter, Elliott, Morgan. Would also give 16th Region two schools of high 4A or low 5A size in numbers with the consolidated Carter County, plus Montgomery. Add in Boyd who will probably grow in school size due to development out there, and Rowan who is a solid 4A in size, and I think the region would be pretty balanced in enrollment between small and large enrollments. Rowan also borders all three counties as well. Rowan does border the three counties they are currently in obviously but only border Menifee at the very small northeast Menifee/southwest Rowan tip.

2. Lawrence County move to the 16th Region and either the 62nd or 64th Districts. Rose Hill has basically dropped out of district play so wouldn't even really have to change anything in terms of district alignment, and one of either Boyd or Ashland would actually have to take a district semifinal seriously to advance to the region. They could even be a 62nd District member as they border Carter, Elliott and Morgan too.

The fifteenth region only has 14 schools as it is,   Be really hard to move a team out of there (Lawrence).   They are already playing the super region because of them being the smallest team wise region in the state and having multiple three team districts.

They would actually need schools instead of losing anymore.

Personally, I'd like to see Jenkins and Letcher Central get moved to the 15th from the 14th, if the 14th has enough teams to stand on as a traditional region.

No way the 14th can lose anyone. I would think they will need to add eventually - a lot of very small schools in that region.

I agree with one of the above posts that Cordia should be moved to the 54th with Hazard, Perry Central and Leslie County. Cordia is close to Hazard (10 miles and 20 minute drive) and has a Hazard address.
Then move Buckhorn to the 53rd with Breathitt County, Wolfe County and Jackson City. Then you will have four teams in each district. Also, Buckhorn is about four miles closer to Jackson that it is Hazard, not that it is that big of a difference but I assure you if you have ever traveled Route 28 from Buckhorn to Hazard you will totally agree that the route to Jackson from Buckhorn is much better and quicker.
