Did MC not have any skill guys with 0 in game varsity experience? Why didn't those guys play JV too?
Were all of MC's varsity skill players on the '24 team returning starters from the '23 team? Somehow, I doubt that. If the argument is that it's ok to start varsity linemen on JV because they have no varsity experience then why not also start varsity skill kids on JV if they have no previous varsity experience as well? I don't understand the logic of being OK with doing it for one position group and not the others.
It’s true that Pburg won 11 games with a majority of freshman and sophomore starters on both sides of the ball in varsity play last year, so maybe that’s the disconnect between us. Especially since Coach Hager seemed to not want many or most of those kids to play both JV and varsity too. Maybe that’s why it’s hard for us to wrap our heads around MC playing most of their varsity linemen on JV over here.
But, you’re right, by all means teams should play whoever they want in JV. There are basically no khsaa rules against it and it’s really not a big deal, but I just don’t understand how some people on here expect sensible people to believe that a JV team is great when it has to load it up with varsity players to beat rivals who don’t even play their freshman and sophomores who see a lot of varsity snaps on JV. I’ll leave it at that.

That's his program and he can run it as he sees fit. I'm a huge Wesley hager fan. He is a fine coach but I don't believe for 1 second he didn't play any varsity players on jv. I agree not to play varsity juniors and seniors. But underclassmen need all the snaps they can get(02-12-2025, 01:39 PM)TE#82 Wrote:(02-11-2025, 06:49 PM)Red and Black Wrote:Most the skills where juniors and seniors and they didn't play a single snap on jv. Lol smhtalked to a few people about this...... stanley is a belfry graduate and played sports there and his son went over there two years ago because he is a baseball player..... joe started coaching at jr high and they won the middle school state this past year........ wanted to move up to high school and coach mac and him had some sort of differences so he took a chance moving up a level as an coordinator instead ofj ust position coach
guess he also ruffled some feathers at belfry because he gets a little out there on offense and uses the shotgun and things like that
i dont know him well but have some mutual friends and thought he did a good job both junior high programs he been at

If true a big loss for Pikeville JH. Play calling was 1000% superior to HS last year.
