I knew varsity vs varsity would be close.

Yes very good scrimmage. JV played 1 series a piece. Bell Co didn’t score. But Hazard JV scored.

Bell subbed the entire game and it caused some problems. Got up to a quick 14-0 lead, took the secondary out, and immediately gave up an easy TD. And then here they come back in. Hazard has some studs but Bell just had a few more. Then the occasional late flag after a 70 yd run or late hit on a QB get over looked but that’s what gets you ready for the season right!

I thought both teams looked like they are gonna be a force in their classes. Hazard has got a bunch this year. They will have the best athlete on the field every game they play in Johnson.

This was a great scrimmage for both teams.. I think it is safe to say both are better teams after playing 3 quarters of real football. I like how they did not do the 10 and 10 crap and played a real game for 3 quarters.. Besides special teams this was a real physical game.. I think if those 2 teams played in a regular season game I think Bell would have ended up pulling away by 2-3 scores but Hazard more than held their own. They will be top 5 in 1A in my opinion. Great night of football in the holler.

I honestly didn’t see bell sub that much. But they came out and punched Hazard in the mouth and went up 16-0. Hazard Gavin Johnson got behind a DB for the next score on a beautiful thrown ball from the QB. Hopefully I can watch some video later on this one. Hazard come down and faced a 4th down and give there kicker a chance for 3 and got it.( no rush on special teams). That made it 16-10. Bell come out after halftime and scored to make it 22-10. The running back is an absolute stud. Hazard drives the field and just misses on a 4th and 6 to Gavin Johnson. He needed a little more air under it and he probably gets it. Hazard got a stop and then went down n scored to make it 22-17. The quarter ended after that. I felt Bell actually wore down late in this one. I don’t know how this game would actually look if played game like, but it would be a barn burner. Hazard starting running back didn’t play because of a motor wreck. But I thought the back ups did really good. But Bell definitely needs to hit #2 more often big target. Offense for both definitely shined. Defenses didn’t play bad it was just better offense. But hopefully these two keep these scrimmages up. I also like how they kept varsity for 3 straight quarters instead of JV playing the 3rd quarter basically. But man it felt good to be watching a little football.?

They sub a lot, especially up front. There’s a lot of 2 way players that need rest at some point but dang idk if they can get it all at once. Both corners and our safety was out on the long ball to johnson and I was hoping safety was a position we can maybe find someone to step in at some to get burnett off the field, but dang it took two plays for a deep ball to hit. Hopefully someone can step up during the season. Then later on in the third almost every player was out on offense except Burnett, that drive was an easy 3 and out. And about the throwing to 2… YES! He just committed to UT chattanooga. Can’t show all the cards in a scrimmage.

Johnson has got to be a monster to play a hard edge on defense and then get 4-5 touches a drive on offense. Workhorse is an understatement. Hazard is gonna be tough cause I thought they were sound defensively to go along with a lot of pretty good weapons on offense. Good playcalling too, no huddle and on the gas pedal. Both teams got a lot out of the scrimmage regardless of the scoreboard. I hope they keep doing this.
Hope the running back is ok.

Burnette the quarterback is definitely a weapon in that secondary. He is an interception machine. Hard not to have him out there. Yes I did notice new backs in on Bells last series before Hazard scored there last touchdown. I thought maybe the starter was done to prevent injury plus there was like 2 minutes left then. That’s good for #2 good weapon with size. Congrats to him on his commitment.

What I liked best tonight for Hazard was the quarterback had plenty of time to throw the ball and no mistakes there. Put the ball on the ground some. First play but lucky hazard got it back. In a live game the 2nd very possibly was a touchdown or safety on that bad snap. Hazard has several players playing both ways but did sub a lot on there defensive line. I don’t think I saw much on the o-line but could be wrong.

But really enjoyed the game. Both teams looked very seasoned offensively.
