The 1974 Region played at Prestonsburg. Pikeville in first round game was led by Mark Meyers 15, Keith Stratton 15, Tommy Allen 18 and Tommy Clark 23. I watched them play again at Freedom Hall the next week Meyers 21, Keith Stratton 16 and Tommy Allen 19 points. Boyd County had scoring from Phil Pratt with 25 points and 12 rebounds as i watched them play in the 1973 tournament. 1-20-73 Pikeville 71 Boyd County 70. Keith Stratton 24 points for Pikeville and Phil Pratt 14 and Davey Wooten 12 points at Pikeville.  McDowell won the region in 73 and Glen Heinsch scored 22 points vs. Madisonville. The 89 Prestonsburg team played Madisonville with Travis Ford at Rupp Arena. 12-8-72 Phil Pratt scored 31 points for Boyd County in home win. 12-8-72 Mark Meyers scored 36 points in home win. 1-25-73 Pikeville vs. Elkhorn City. Mark Meyers scored 29 and Jimmy Kerr scored 28 for Elkhorn City. Jim Bob Micheal who averaged 30 points a game in the 74-season scored 38 points that night for Louisa. 3-9-73 semifinal game at Johnson Central with McDowell winning on their way to state. Neil Turner 29 for McDowell and Mark Meyers 30 points. 1-25-73 stats show Bryan for Dorton scored 40 points. The 73 McDowell team vs. the 74 Pikeville team at Prestonsburg gym. From these 73 and 74 season i played against and watched Nei Burchett John Central, Terry Howard Salyersville, Kip McNally Prestonsburg, Stan Dixon Sandy Hook, Gary Gauze Martin County, Rick Meek Johnson Central and Steve Skaggs Greenup County who team played at State in 1974.
