Pike central 81 Lawrence County 72
#1
Final of 2a. They will face Johnson Central tomorrow.

Was in attendance for this one last night, hadn't got to see Lawrence play so far this season, a few things with Chandler Thompson's teams, they always have shooters who will space the floor, can slash to the basket, and will absolutely defend the hell out of you, normally don't have a ton of size but they make up for that with how hard and physical they play, so needless to say I was looking forward to seeing them play last night.

But I guess I just caught them on a really bad off night. They couldn't buy a basket last night, and it seemed like whatever they done defensively, Pike Central just had an answer for everything, especially when Lawrence would get in their full court press, the best way to break a good press is ball movement, having someone in the middle at halfcourt, and they done both things every single time, and it worked to perfection. I'd love to know how many points in the paint Pike Central had, not even sure they made a 3, and didn't even attempt very many from what I remember. Stewart and the other front court players were just getting whatever they wanted the whole game. PC controlled things from the get go, Lawrence got it to within 3 late in the first half but PC extended it back out before half.

Great game from Pike Central, who are playing some good basketball right now. Will be a tough test tonight against Johnson Central, but should be a great game.

Very good win for pike central. I was looking at lc games this season. I’m not sure they have a quality win all season unless you count district games. Lost at home to pikeville bad and then lost to pike c last night. A lot of there wins are against sub par teams imo

Pike Central needs Grant Hall on the court to be competitive with good teams. I’d love to know the +\- with him on the court versus when he’s not playing. Stewart is their best player and arguably the best in the region but they would’ve lost that game last night if Grant didn’t come back in. I’ve said it since he’s been in 5th/6th grade he would be best defensive player in the 15th just have to clean up the turnovers. Lawrence County will be fine because that was a winnable game for them.

Lawrence cut an 19 pt lead with four minutes left to a two point deficit and had a point blank shot to tie it with about a minute and a half left that didn’t fall. PCC got a couple
Run outs late to set final margin. Lawrence never quit and about pulled off a miracle comeback.

Agree to above post Hall is the glue that holds them together. Kid is unreal with decision making and on defensive end. He is by far most underrated kid in region.

I said it in a post on a poll that Lawrence really hasn’t played anyone. With their style if you can handle pressure you can beat them, but can’t get in a physical ugly high paced ugly game or they will beat you.

Not sure where they rank in talent but it isn’t at the top, but they do play harder than any other team in region and that makes them very scary. Seemed to struggle to score in this one with bad decisions and forced shots.

PCC then beats Central tonight and looks to be playing well. They are a top three team in region along with Martin and Paintsville. Need a deeper bench, that big floor in region brings it into play more esp if you play back to back nights.

Also not sure a zone is best option for PCC. They have best on ball defender and some athletic size, Would like to see them pressure more with Hall and speed teams up. He forces you to make bad decisions.

Seen Will Rowe in bench last night; Any chance he gets eligible and helps them this season.
