Hazard’s defense was on another level tonight. Hazard could of won by 30+ had they chosen to.

Such an embarrassing performance. Hazard d was a big part of it but also seem like the effort wasnt there either. Gave up so many easy and open lays up for not getting back on d all night. We had no one in double digits. This Hazard team is legit. I’ll take them over Harlan co tomorrow in what should be a dandy

I have Breathitt at 12 right behind Jenkins.

Did breathitt even want to be there? 7 points in 3rd and not one sub. Did they even make any adjustments or are guys not listening? Its like a one man show with guards and forgetting about your bigs. Braxton terry looks frustrated as heck. Get him the ball. Peyton collins made 3 in a row then took maybe one threee rest of night. Run a play for him. They don’t seem to even know the plays.  They stand around so much waiting to see what sperry will do. Sperry needs But they need to be posting up. They gave up in the 3rd when they didn’t change a thing bc you can’t go into 4th with hazard having the lead like that and expect much. Look at hazards passing vs breathitts. Much more disciplined team.

Teams that want to stop sperry will make it hard for him to penetrate and both games hazard did just that. So many times guys were shooting very contested shots with 2-3 guys outside wide open. If they have a chance to beat hazard this year they need to get more involved bc they are stopping the best player.

They need someone to come in and give that team some offense. Breathitt needs a wake up call big time. They didn’t look like the 2nd best team.  These things are fixable but they have a lot of work to do.

Hazard is just so disciplined. They have breathitts number in first two games for sure

Same.

This Hazard team is phenomenal!!!

Is people really this surprised ? Hazard was a tough team last year and they returned everyone with the addition of Beverly this season. While Hazard has it all ! Every other team in the region lost players that couldn’t be replaced.

If Hazard stays healthy they are going to win this region in a dominating fashion !

After this season Hazard will return Combs , Caudill , Johnson & Kincaid… I’m going to predict Coach Al Holland comes back for 1 more trip to Rupp !!

This is a really special Bulldog team and it's THE YEAR for them.
This team has been the best team in the region the last two years but Breathitt upset them in the semis both years.
They have to win it this year.

They are big enough to be a problem for people in the mountains, they shoot well, have two very really good point guards and tons of ball handlers, the winningest coach in 14th Region history on the sidelines... they are poised to win it all.

On a regular old night, Hazard is 15 points better than anyone in the region. On a good night they'll blow you out. On a bad night you still lose.

I’m a big fan of this Hazard squad , and I think Big Al is the man. However , I have to disagree with the claim that Hazard has been the best team the last 2 seasons. Let’s not forget what Breathitt accomplished in 2023. They basically won region without having a coach the entire season. To me , that speaks volumes about just how talented that team was.

If you ask Al today , he will tell you Breathitt was the best team in the region last season. Breathitt beat them in the All A & in the Regional tournament. So , I don’t see how you call them beating Hazard an upset lol.

As sports fans. Do we truly call it like we see it or do we just pick our team no matter what ?

Where did Breathitt finish the season at last year??

Haha. They finished regional runner up after being upset by maybe the # 4 team in the region.

I always call it like I see it. Breathitt was better when they needed it the most and they have gotten the last laugh over Hazard for two straight years.
But if you look at the total body of work, the Bulldogs have been the best team and I don't know how anyone can convince me otherwise.

Two years ago, going into the game against Breathitt County in the semis, Hazard was 20-0 in the 14th Region and had beaten Breathitt earlier in the year, 63-47.
Breathitt had lost to Hazard and Perry. Now, they won the 14th Region tournament and you can't take that away from them. I'm sure Hazard would have traded a couple losses in the regular season for a regional title.

Last year, Hazard did lose to Breathitt in the All-A, but they were 22-1 against the 14th Region with TWO wins over Breathitt in the regular season (one of those a 19 point win in mid-February).

I don't see how anyone looking at those numbers objectively can say Breathitt didn't upset Hazard both times. Not a huge upset by any means, because Breathitt didn't fare much worse against the same competition, but I think Hazard being 42-1 against the 14th Region and 3-1 against the Bobcats going into the semis against Breathitt in back-to-back years speaks for itself.

Again, I'm not taking anything away from Breathitt because they won it two years ago and they deserve it. But I truly call it like I see it, and just like Perry Central upset Breathitt County in the finals last year, Breathitt County upset Hazard in the semis the last two years.

What a time to be alive!

Someone just called me a Hazard homer.

If that doesn't tell you that I call it like I see it, I don't know what to tell you.

I guess we will have to agree to disagree on this one.

Hazard had the best coach. Breathitt had the best team. Breathitt had the most talent and got things right some time after Kyle Moore took over to take the crown in 2023.

If I remember correctly. Something was wrong with the Terry kid both times Hazard defeated Breathitt last year. When Breathitt had a full healthy squad they beat Hazard both times. Therefore I feel Breathitt had the better team.

I didn’t call you a Hazard homer. But I do think you’re a Breathitt hater.. most Perry countians are !

It'll definitely be an agree to disagree situation for us, but I'm pretty confident anyone who objectively looks at the numbers can tell you Hazard was the team to beat going into the tournament the last two years. Before the season started two years ago I thought Breathitt was the best team in the region but I didn't expect Landon Smith to come out for Hazard and dominate like he did for a year. Overall record, head-to-head, RPI, Cantrall, Mountain Top 10, etc. all pointed to the Bulldogs. We don't play them on paper though and the only thing that matters is the scoreboard after the buzzer when it's win or go home. Breathitt overcame a lot to make a memorable run in 14th Region tournament a couple years ago and I'm glad I was able to cover that team and see it happen. Storybook stuff.

Got too many things going on to waste time hating on high school kids playing a basketball game.

I agree with you. Felt Hazard missed an opportunities to win back to back region championships. Of course, like you said also it wasn't major upsets but yes they were upsets.

I think the majority of us feel Hazard was the better team last year, and should have won it. Yes, even Breathitt parents posted on Facebook that Breathitt “upset” Hazard in the regional tournament. An upset would mean Hazard was the better team. Lol.

Could it happen again this year? It’s very unlikely. I feel Hazard is double digits better than everyone else in the region. Will shock the world if they don’t make it out this year.

I think Hazard could have a shot at a state championship if Coach Holland just had one or two more assistants on his bench. I don’t think he has enough…

I don’t think Hazard loses a game this season. Expected this one to be a little closer tho
