Central at Christian Academy-Louisville. Thoughts?

This is what I don’t understand about the playoff system:
Central won their district and beat CAL by 20 in the regular season. How in the world should they NOT be playing at home?

Oh, I know “why” it is happening- just not how!
RPI is not the solution to keeping the better teams from being eliminated that it was promised to be.

This is going to be a great game but I taking Central they went into CAL and won the last one so I see them doing it again

Rooting for Central cause I want to see them come to Belfry in the semis.

Central probably plays with a chip on their shoulders due to the above mentioned. CAL will come ready and focused after the humbling they got in the regular season defeat. I'm taking CAL due to coaching adjustments and without the sloppy play this time around.

Central RPI is lower, and that is how its based, if you changed that to account for Head to Head, the RPI is useless to rank 1-4 then. This is really no different than in the old system where even hosted one year and odd the next. Sometimes it seem completely correct.

Disagree completely. RPI has done exactly what it was designed to do, teams have to learn how to schedule for the RPI and win the games they need to with the RPI.
Out of State classification for RPI, yes that needs fixed.

This is the most competitive game across the state this Friday imo. I have to favor Central after the way the last game between the two teams went. However i dont think their will be no 20 point winner either way this time around. This is the true #1 and #2 team in class 3A meeting up in a regional which goes to show how pointless this rpi system is............

I agree with these two being #1 & #2.
Out of the 6 classes, 3A definitely provides the most intriguing scenarios this weekend. Three out of the four games could go either way.

Exactly!!!! Plus, Central should be hosting based on the simple fact that they beat them in regular season. Central plays a very tough schedule every year.
RPI is a joke. You get points based on scheduling and size of your opponent matters. Well what would be a tougher game to schedule a weak 5A team like say a West Jessamine or a 1A team like Pikeville.
if this isn’t how it works, maybe I misunderstand the whole system.

The RPI is broke when it comes to out of state competition and when it comes teams benefiting from a weak assed schedule. No way should Central, who beat CAL head to head and won their district, have to go on the road in the 3rd round only play CAL again. I can see them having to go on the road potentially….but not to play a team they’ve defeated. The RPI also over-values win against teams with gaudy records who have played no one.(11-17-2024, 02:24 PM)ROTC Wrote: Oh, I know “why” it is happening- just not how!

typically the best teams still find their way to Kroger Field…..just saying there are times the teams are advancing despite the RPI.

The same scenario happened to Lexington Catholic in 2022 when they beat Boyle County in the regular season to win the district championship but because of the RPI, had to travel to Boyle in the quarterfinals. I'm not saying Lexington Catholic would have won again but there is a huge difference between playing at home vs at Boyle County in the playoffs especially when you have earned that right by beating that team earlier in the year. The system is broken when you win a district title but still have to travel to play the team you beat in the playoffs.

In the Quarterfinals if you did not win your District but you play a team that won their District you must play on the road regardless of RPI seed.
I dont mind the Semi-Finals because by that point a team has earned that right... but Round 3 you should continue to reward teams for winning their District or punish teams for losing their District.

I would like to see Central go 2-0 on the season in this series but I think CAL win 24-12.
