Highlands had ball inside five three times in first half and came away with three points due to self inflicted mistakes and still dominated the half. In second half Highlands looked like fools out there and handed the game to cooper, it wasn’t that cooper dominated, they just took advantage of Highlands gifts! . What was it 8 turnovers?! The center acted as if he had never snapped a ball before. Two snaps over QB head by 15 yards early second half leading to 14 points: and lost count of all the other bad snaps leading to huge losses all night. Dropped kickoffs three times. QB with bone head plays. Fumbles. Just laughable how bad they played, don’t think I ever saw a Highlands team ever play that bad!

Cooper made them look slowDB’s never look back for the ball , does no good to just run next to the WR and never make a play on the ball. The D line never puts pressure on QB’s this year either.

well at least they won’t have to deal with cooper in November next year!

No adjustments made to make highlands snap the ball 15 yards over QB’s head for two quick turnovers and gift scores to start the half. No adjustments Made for continued bad snaps (lost count). No adjustments made for kick returners unable to pick up the kick and get tackled multiple times inside the ten. Adjustments didn’t cause highlands to forget how to hold onto the ball. Lost track but think it was 8 turnovers. Cooper did what a good team will do, take advantage of bone head plays. I am usually highly critical of highlands coaching, but this was all on players shoulders for just coming out second half and playing like a team in first year of organized football. Unbelievable how bad they played and iit had nothing to do with anything Cooper did. Never had trouble with a loss when you play well and better team wins, hate when you give the game away with terrible play that is self caused.(11-29-2024, 11:41 PM)IAM22 Wrote: Highlands was up 17-7 at halftime!Looks like Cooper's coaches know about halftime adjustments.

SStack you’re right on both of your posts. It was hard to watch. I’ve never seen a Highlands team play that poorly. 54 points in the second half? Are you kidding me?????

A weird ten years of play for Highlands all things considered.
They returned in 5A in 2014, a division they once dominated from 2007-2011, and went on a decade long hiatus from winning a championship, even worse, just simply appearing in a championship game.
Now don't get me wrong, I actually like Coach Sphire and what he's done in his time at the helm for Highlands. I just worry that when will enough be enough for the Bluebird fanbase and community? I've been practically begging for a Highlands/BG state championship game, only for them to flake out every time. Some times they were beaten by the better team, other times they lost games in the playoffs they had no business losing.
Now they turn the page and embark on a quest back to 4A where they will compete with Cov Cath, Boyle, Franklin County, Paducah Tilghman, Corbin, etc.... I find myself struggling to see a promising picture for Highlands any time soon. From what I understand, they return a good portion of this team back next season. We will have to wait another year to see if they are up to the challenge of making it to a championship game but it seems like a daunting task.
On the other end, congratulations to Cooper. Jags are a balanced team with great weapons on the perimeter and have the signal caller to put the ball anywhere it needs to be. The state title game should be a true show.

Wonder what team would be like if Bert Bethiany (Highlands alumni who many wanted for the job) was picked to coach, he currently has Cincinnati Moller in state championship game

I heard a lot of players arguing and finger pointing started at half time and got worse on the sidelines and even one player yelling at coach with coach telling him he will never play for him again. Sounds like coach who doesn’t have control.
