Knox blew this game wide open, up 33-0 in the middle of the second qtr. I have to say this was the first time i got to watch middlesboro play in person, i had only seen them on the livestreams, but my lord that program has more than dipped. Minus 1-2 players, I saw no real talent on the field even with the younger bunch. Worried me for the future. I always expect middlesboro to be an over .500 team, especially now in 1A. Knox is a bigger school and losing is one thing, but almost getting running clocked in the 2nd quarter by a middle of the pack 3A school was a huge step back. Not much discipline from the jackets either, might have been a year long issue but you cannot tell much from livestreams sometimes. Not attempting to get on the ball on kickoff, having 10 players on the field, etc etc.
With RPI, the bell county/middlesboro rivalry may never return, but if middlesboro could field something competitive it would have a shot. After this game and the Harlan County game, I doubt if that series ever gets mentioned again. I hate that for the county.
Knox looked to be hitting on all cylinders, was it because it was middlesboro, maybe. But i have to say Mills has proved over the course of the season he can get the program back into B-tier. Never A-tier but right at the ankles of the top dogs
