Its middle of the season and what are you seeing so far? Here is a little of what I see.
In 4A we are heading towards some huge games in the regular season that will determine some big 3rd round games. Some teams are hot right now like Johnson Central. I talk football every day and Johnson Central, Corbin, Ashland and Covington Catholic are all closer than one may think. Corbin has the QB, and he is just that good. Johnson Central has that signature run game and with Mccoart leading the way. I'm a fan of this kid. They started with an uncharacteristic loss and then have run over the opponents for 4 straight wins. Corbin has a very talented team and after watching the FD film, they are better than I thought. Game is deceiving and I don't see any of these teams mentioned in the same conversation as FD. Ashland has patiently been waiting to prove their worth and no doubt will be looking for the big district matchup with JC. Covington Catholic is having improved after the slow start but it may not have been as bad is it first looked. Ryle is tuff and Highlands is solid so it may have taken a game or two for CC to find itself. I haven't said much about Boyle because they already made their statement in the ST. Edwards game on the field. They remind me of the Mathews bow theme. Catch us if you can.......
In Class 1A I honestly think 4 teams might be closer than they think, Raceland and Pikeville game was a eye opener and I still have Pikeville as my overall top team to take the crown but man still some big games left and anything still can happen.
Class 5A has 2 teams being Bowling Green and Cooper looking like to Roosters in the barnyard getting ready to square off again down the road.
But a few more teams definitely making noise behind them.
Class 2A has 3 teams who look to be slightly ahead of the rest and still a toss up. I am actually going to say LCA may look better this year after the graduation and the slow start because of the tuff scheduling and they may sneak up and win a State Title this year. Its still early but man are they not just getting better game by game.
Class 3A has a few teams that are just tuff schedulers that will no doubt be right there when it comes time. CAl no doubt is not the CAL of last season. Belfry is looking good. Lexington Catholic after making a QB switch has put it on overdrive, Central plays maybe as tuff of a schedule as anyone and maybe the best team this year. But its close all the way around.
6A, I have never been much of a fan of 6A football because it's always just been 3 teams. But now since I am a fan of Frederick Douglass and Bullitt East, I actually been looking a little more. I call it bully ball. I think this may be one of the best years to where honestly 4 or 5 teams have a chance to pull a huge upset and win the entire thing. No lead is safe, and the outcomes always seem to be a comeback win or a team just doing what it needs to do to win in the 4th quarter.

I see exciting playoffs coming all across the board. It’s a year where records aren’t giving the whole picture on a lot of teams which come November will create many upsets.
A team like Lexington Catholic may have 3 wins in the regular season but have a couple upsets and find themselves 2 games away from Kroger.
A team like Pikeville may be .500 in the regular season but go on to Kroger field and secure another state championship.
A team like Ballard who many have written off for a chance at Kroger could go into the playoffs and upset one or two teams and find themselves right in the mix for a shot at a state championship.
A team like Scott County who many think can’t hang with bowling green cooper and Co. could go into the playoffs getting their star player back and upset Cooper or highlands in the second round and now there’s a realistic path
I could go on and on. The playoffs in all classes aside from 2A will be very interesting and I think a lot of the popular picks to win state in their class will end up not even making it to Kroger field.

Very well said Bull and I really admire your dedication to the game.
JC has got their signature running game going well. Their young qb Slone is doing a great job running the offense. I believe he has the potential to be able to run the offense, like Ryley Preece did. I know that's big shoes for anyone from anywhere to fill. That's how smart and good of an athlete Slone is.
Corbin always has good athletes every year. Elam is one of the best you'll find anywhere. Not just KY but throughout the whole country. Trying to stop him will turn a opposing coaches head gray! Plus I think Corbins new coach can get them to another state title.
Boyle County: I mean come on guys, we all knew this is who we'd all been chasing again!
Boyle is in the mist of a dynasty. They are a dynasty. That team is so loaded it's kinda scary. Reminds me of Highlands back in the day.
Ashland: I knew would be really tough again. This is definitely a team I could see playing in the state title game. I look for another barn burner of a game at the end of the season, between Ashland and JC, to decide the district.
Cov Cath has always had my attention. Now PT has my attention. Never really followed football on the western part of the state. I am keeping up with PT now.
Franklin County is always dangerous. You can never sleep on them. If you do, you'll be woken up really quick! They've been a consistent threat to get to the title game, on a yearly basis, for awhile.
Maybe I'm leaving a 4a team out. Seems like there's a sleeper team or two each year. A team that makes a run that no one really seen coming. Could that team be Greenup Co. in 4a this season? Is there more sleeper team's?
I mostly follow 4a so that's what this post is about. 1a I think comes down to Pikeville and Raceland. 3a I'm pulling for Belfry.
I apologize if I misspelled any names, I'm not the best at name spelling.
