Going with Owensboro!!

Owensboro might have had the most impressive win of all the games last week. It was right there with Cooper's win at Scott Co. They'll leave the friendly confines of Rash Stadium for a trip to Louisville.

The Red Devil teams understand playoff football with years of success against quality teams. Atherton has risen to a new level this season and can be very proud of their accomplishments. It's tough to compete with the local 6A schools when it comes to retaining talent. Most of the 5A schools in the metro area haven't been anywhere near top10 level in sometime. I don't think it's a coincidence.

Atherton has seen decades of bad football including several winless seasons. Starting in 2017 they've seen an uptick in results. I'll admit I know zilch about this Atherton team. They appear to be more on the level of some of the better second tier teams in class 1A. Owensboro has shown brilliance in some games while being very flat in a couple. I firmly expect the upside Red Devils to show up and put an end to the Ravens memorable season. I think it will be a comfortable margin in the neighborhood of 23-30 points and boldly predict running clock being more probable than under 20.

Time to see if this Atherton team is for real or not.

Head says Owensboro - Heart says Atherton.

Smart money on Owensboro.

I think Owensboro wins by a running clock. They got a horrible call at Madisonville on a Madisonville fumble at the 4 yard line that was ruled a TD (ball was fumbled out of the end zone and would have been the Devils ball). The Devils beat the brakes off South Warren last week and the Spartans were considered one of the favorites to win 5A. They lost to Owensboro Catholic on a last second touchdown. Coach Fallen is playing his best athletes on both sides of the ball now so this makes them much better. I don't know anything about Atherton but I don't think they have played anybody as good as Owensboro.
