I think it needs to get back to more individual work instead of just playing in team camps where all you do is scrimmage. 1 team and 1 individual is plenty. Players need to practice and work on their weak areas. Work on your own. You get better by trying to improve on your individual skills. Not just playing games. How many kids jump rope or do agility drills, work on their off the dribble shot, improve their free throw shooting, work on getting stronger. That's the problem with kids not getting any better. In order for teams to get better, the players need to work on their own. Practice what you learn during season and from camps if you want to get better. Don't just count on the games to improve your game. Team camps are money makers. That's why they cut down on all the indiv. work in them.

It would make sense for ahigh school girls program to offer a individual camp for their players and young prospects to improve thier skills in the offseason (summer) but that doesnt always happen now does it? Its called working your program and some local coaches are not real concerned about spending that extra time to do that( Unless they can cabbage some big money)

I think that these girls need a little break during the summer too. It gets tough and most girls just get burnt out on it.

Pikeville, Belfry, Phleps,PC. .. I know have all done this before. It would be good to if they went to other camps aslo to see other people teaching the same things that they do during the school year and maybe even pick up on something new. Having others teach players re enforces what their coach teaches them during the season.
That's what it seems to be about the all mighty $$$. You know there is a lot of expense when you have camps. Insurance and you have to pay the people that help. No one is going to work 4-5 days for nothing. When you go to the university camps they charge much much more. Why do you think that colleges have team camps...to make money. It's a job that is already under paid with all the time all coaches put in. Then not to mention...the players don't seem to appreicate things and people anymore. How many players say Thank you anymore? Few.
You might make a good coach...why don't you apply for an open positon or post where you can do indiviudal work to help these players. I know I would want to come to see what I could learn from you. Post it in the News Express and I'll be there and get some of my teammates to come also. Looking forward to learning from you.

well our team goes to 2-3 team camps and some of the girls play on aau teams therefore they r getting plenty of practice time and the ones who dont play aau should be schelduling individual camps theirself if they love the game enough they will find time to work individually if their jus doing it fer mom and dad they wont find the time to work theirself hard.

Players need a life also. 2-3 weeks is plenty for me. I play other sports also and it is way to much. 2 weeks with each sport is all that should be allowed. Volleyball, softball and basketball takes up my whole summer. I'm so glad there is a dead period. I wish it was longer than 14 days though. I usally have to go to individual camps even during this time. irateSku
