Former Powell County girls basketball and volleyball head coach, Ken Jones has passed away.

Powell County should rename their court, Ken Jones Court or Ken Jones Gymnasium

Sorry to hear this news. Coach Jones was in the coaching business a long time. He coached boys teams earlier in his career and also did some TV broadcasting for WYMT in Hazard. He certainly had much success at Powell County with their girls basketball and volleyball programs. He’ll always be remembered for his red towel that he carried or draped over his shoulder during games. RIP coach.
