He has no experience running a program. He is not a homegrown kid.

I’m sure this hire has something to do with Greg Napier’s evil plan to act like the Board of Education will not support SV.  He will never take credit for slowly ruining every sport at SV but softball.

Who were the other applicants?

Tyler will do an awesome job for Shelby Valley!   I am not a valley supporter but I know Tyler and his coaching style and he will succeed.   These statements of no experience running a program or not a home grown kid. well thats crazy!   Everybody (even these other candidates)  had to start somewhere.   A great  decision was made this time.

Everybody does have to start somewhere. Just not (what used to be) a powerhouse program. Greg Napier has thrown in the towel on both basketball programs and it's honestly a shame. If being mediocre is ok, and SV now being a nice place to start your career then Napier has succeeded. It's embarrassing that Pikeville will own SV for as long as they want.

While I agree that Valley could have made a more experience hire, at this point what good will it do. Since Justice has been at Pikeville they have only not been district champion once and that was when Samons went down with an ACL injury and East Ridge won it that year with Tyler on that staff. Valley has only won one All A Region since Justice has been at Pikeville. Maybe the new hire will want to stick around for awhile and try to rebuild Valley back to the powerhouse it was. The last two coaches didn’t really win a lot of meaningful games the last seven or eight years.

Why did McCoy leave ER if he was on the staff that won the only district championship since Justice has been at Pikeville?

SV has a decent amount of young talent and to return to the powerhouse it was you not only have to keep the young talent. You have to develop it.

He was on staff at East Ridge for several years before moving to Valley last season. Maybe he left when all those seniors at East Ridge graduated.
He needs to stick around while to try and develop all of that young talent. It will be better for the region if he stays and does a good job.
