Honestly, this may not be enough. WC is pretty bad.

Congratulations Prestonsburg. Much improved team and play with much class. Good luck the rest of the way.

Congratulations to P-burg

Way to go Blackcats!

Congratulations to Coach Brewer and the Blackcats. My deepest sympathies to the comets of West Carter, I saw a comment saying they were surprised this game still happened and I have to agree. Those kids most be some of the most resilient kids in the state to face all that adversity and still perform. I wish you nothing but the best going forward.

Pburg will be 8-2 on the season, 3rd in the district and a 1st round playoff exit.

And we know someone will get on here and say, “haters gonna hate” , but you all know it’s true.

Even if they do, it's a step in the right direction and the best season Prestonsburg has had since 2017.

At least those this 2022 version of the Blackcats can reflect back on the wins they did have. Wink

So proud of these Blackcats! You can’t choose your district or how strong they are, year in and year out. Winning district games is something they’ve not been able to do prior to this year. Winning games no matter the opponent is the first step towards getting the community invested into the program again. This West Carter team is a team that PBurg has NEVER beat, so you take these Ws.

As for this game, I thought it was great to see #71 Nick Porter back out there. Obviously not at 100%, but his 75% is better than a lot of peoples 100%. The running game looked better than it did against Valley and it’s in part due to having 71 lead the way. Ethan Jarvis was his usual solid self as he continues to pace 2A.

On defense, I thought the pass rush was much better this game. West Carter had no answer for 54 Gavin Stephens. The senior edge defender racked up 5 sacks in this one. 35 Brayden Goble and 44 Logan Stumbo also played very solid games. 12 Jacob Jarrell also contributed to putting some pressure on the WC QB.

Hats off to West Carter for playing this game as I don’t know if I could’ve given the circumstances.

I pray for healing and comfort for them. I also will be rooting for them the rest of the way.
