Casey County 32. Taylor County 12
#1
Rebels played a very good game.  Score was tied 6-6 after the first quarter, but then Casey would add 2 more scores before Taylor found the end zone again with 54 seconds left in the half.  Casey scores again within 30 seconds to go up 26-12 at the half.  Casey kept the ball on the ground the second half and controlled the clock.  They would add 1 more score in the third to make the final score 32-12.  Casey is now 5-1 and 2-0 in district play.  Another tough opponent comes to Liberty next Friday when Casey hosts Wayne County.

I am not sure what is going on at Taylor? I really thought that returned most of their best players from a very good team last year and would be tougher this year.

They are playing some young guys, but they also have their studs back.  Peyton Smith and Hayes Johnson did not play against Casey.  I believed early on that Taylor would be a top 5 team with what they had returning

Taylor has been one of the biggest disappointments in their class this year, not taking anything away from Casey Co. but I don't know what is going on at Taylor. Casey could easily finish the year 8-2. I don't see them beating Glasgow.

Peyton Smith was wearing a boot, but my understanding is the Johnson kid was serving a suspension for something that happened in their previous game.

Honestly we do worry about the Glasgow game, but I think I fear Hart county more than that. Hart county is in one of those "once in a lifetime" type of seasons for them. They are really solid when they are playing well. I think Casey will finish up around the 7-3 mark. If we get past Wayne I might feel better about 8-2. But Hart, Glasgow, and Spencer are not gimme games. Casey County we know all too well no game is a "gimme". Coach Steve Stonebraker keeps us in games we had no business being in, and has won several games we shouldn't have.

BGO, I would probably run a different offense with Taylor. They play so much wishbone, really strong teams with a good D line can slow them down. They just need more versatility, IMO. Peyton Smith's brother is probably 6'3" or 6'4" and smooth as butter running. He isn't power and doesn't run through you, but he can run by someone as a receiver or tight end. I think that kid may settle at tight end for a small D1 college. Taylor's kids seem to despise defense. I know they have a young secondary but they have that big linebacker and he just seems like a non factor. He'd probably be a stud on the D line in high-school, but they have giant D lineman. I don't understand it, even without Peyton Smith they still have a lot of talent. O-line and D-line both are really big for 3A.
