Frederick Douglass @ Scott County 9/23
#1
The 5-0 and AP #1 team in 5A Frederick Douglass Broncos will travel to Georgetown to take on the 4-0 and AP #6 team in 5A Scott Co. Cardinals. Both teams are coming off large wins over other Lexington schools. The Broncos defeated Henry Clay 54-7 and the Cardinals beat Dunbar 48-27. The Broncos win gave them already their 60th win in program history in only their 69th game.

This has become one of the better rivalry's in central Kentucky in just 6 short years. These two schools will be meeting for the 10th time. Scott Co. won 3 of the first 4 games in the series, but since the playoff game in November of 2018 the Broncos have won the last 5 matchup's by combined total of 192-42 with two of the games being shutouts and two running clocks. Douglass leads the series 6-3 going into Friday's game.

So far this season in the Cardinals 4 wins they are averaging 33 points a game and allowing 15 points per game. The Broncos 4 games (excluding the Lafayette forfeit) Douglass is averaging 54.2 points a game and allowing 7.2 points per game. This should be the toughest game of the season so far for both teams. I think the Broncos speed and depth will be a to much for the Cardinals I take Douglass 36-13.

After '18 was the split that is the main reason the last 5 years 1800 students less-and that Douglas  has acquired so much talent SC just doesn't have the horses to play with them. Interesting game

Could be but Douglass did beat Scott when they only had 900 total students in their 2nd year and Scott had over 2300. The first two years that Douglass was put in 6A they had 850 the first year and 940 the 2nd year that is why they were moved to 5A.

Exactly that was my point the numbers now is not much different that in 2017 when Scott got two of their 3 wins vs Douglass in that year Douglass had less than 850 students in 6A and Scott Co. had over 2300 students.

Man you know it is not the same Scott County, know matter how you cut it, they lost 600-700 boys in '19. Everybody knows there is a big difference in the schools talent wise, it is not even close. Douglas by 3+ Td's in my opinion.

Douglas running clock. Scott Co. gets a couple td's late to make it look a bit better.

So a win for Scott Co is just to keep from having a running clock put on them and get out of the game injury free.   Is there anyone in 5A they keep it close Douglass?

I think currently that Cov. Cath can and the winner of South Warren and Bowling Green and possibly Woodford as well I think those are the 4 teams that can give or possibly beat Douglass in my opinion.

I am not sold on BG being able to do it.  I watched the Scott Co vs BG scrimmage.  Granted it was only a scrimmage but they was not physical enough to beat Scott Co.  You can never count out out SW with Coach Smith at helm.  I cant speak on Cov. Cath this year,  I  have not been able to see them play, yet so I will have to take your word.  I know Coach Eddie does a great job getting his team ready to battle.

Not sure if any other team other than Douglas wants to see Scott Co. or Woodford Co offence. Its just not something you see every week and you can't simulate it in 3 days of practice. Douglas has got Scott Co. offence down pat because they play each other so much and have superior athletes. Everybody runs some form of the spread these days, so it's nothing knew. Bowling Green couldn't stop it from the scrimmage I watched, and the last time Highlands and Cov. Cath went against it they couldn't either. That RPI is going to be very interesting to me because teams are going to want to stay away from Douglas. Good luck to all teams tonight. I'm going to the STX- T game tonight never been when they play each other.

Douglass gets a 71 yard touchdown pass from Carpenter to Webb after both teams go thee and out on their first possessions the extra point is good Douglass leads 7-0 with 8:52 left in the first quarter.

Douglass gets another 3 and out on Scott Co. 2nd possession and Cameron Dunn runs the punt back 50 yards for a touchdown and Douglass now leads 14-0 with still 7:24 left in the 1st quarter.

Douglass gets another 3 and out after Scott Co. lost 11 yards on 3 plays after a nice return by Bryant inside the Cardinals 25 yard line Douglass scores on just 5 plays the two point conversion is no good Douglass leads 20-0 with 3:41 left still in the first quarter. Interesting so far the Cardinals have ran 9 offensive plays from scrimmage and Douglass has only ran 10 plays and lead 20-0.

I will say one thing for the guys from Scott Co. after Douglass totally dominated the first quarter they are doing a great job of putting as positive spin on it for Scott as they can.

Scott Co. gets an interception and have the ball on their own 38.

I can't understand why Coach Mckee keeps trying to run sweeps or on the edge because of the Broncos speed they have lost yardage every time. They still don't have a first down yet in the game.

Douglass puts together a long drive and get 1 yard run by Hart for a touchdown the extra point is good with 2:28 left to play the Broncos lead 27-0.

Scott Co. ran 18 plays for 14 yards

Douglass scores on the first possession of the 3rd quarter on a Hart 16 yard touchdown the extra point is good and now lead 34-0 with 7:34 left in the 3rd quarter.

Ty Bryant scores on a 11 yard run to make it a running clock for the Broncos lead 41-0.

Scott Co. is moving the ball some now as Douglass has subbed in some reserves.
