Boyd narrowed the margin to 3 last season after losing the previous 4 by 46 or more. This series has turned into one you don't really pay attention to because the scores have been so embarrassing. However, it's now or never for Boyd if they hope to turn the series around. Ashland is coming off an historic defeat to Raceland by 27 points. Boyd looked good in their Russell scrimmage and got the win in their first game at South Point while looking not so great. A win in Putnam Stadium over the Tomcats would go a long way in turning the tides and the futures of these 2 programs. Boyd, like Raceland, has already blown Ashland away with their facilities. The tradition is what Ashland has to hang onto in order to not lose players to these 2 programs in the coming years. Were it not for the loss of the star running back Collins, I would say it's Boyd by 7. Since he doesn't appear to be on the Boyd team, I say Boyd by 1. This will be a good one to watch.

Tomcats rebound with their first win of the season.

This is a hard one for me. Boyd is on the up and up. Ashland is coming off a significant loss to "little brother". Ashland will be hungry. And while I think Boyd may be the more complete team at this point, I think Ashland has the better atheletes and Jennings makes his presence felt early.

Ashland 28
Boyd Co 14

Ashland will beat Boyd like they stole something.

Always gonna be tough to pick Boyd over Ashland at Putnam, although I do think it will be a game. Would like to see Boyd win for the sake of creating more of a rivalry in football.
#7
Ashland by 2 scores.

Some of ya'll may be underestimating Boyd County. They've got some players. Their running back #2 Malachi Wheeler is quite a player. Had 202 yds rushing on 18 carries against South Point Friday including 91 yd run for TD.

Ran a 10.8 100 meter laser timed back in April. The game against South Point was his first varsity game since 2020 playing at Dawson/Bryant high school in Coal Grove, Ohio when he tore his acl. Had surgery. Rehabbed last year and played some with the jv team. Benched 305 lbs and did 21 reps of 185 bench. Not bad for 6'0 185 lbs.

Also had 70 yd td run against Russell in the Russell/Boyd scrimmage.

Where was this 10.8 100m ran?  I looked on Milesplit and according to that his best time last season was 12.44.  I’m not saying he doesn’t have talent but please show proof of this 100m time.

He had knee surgery for torn acl. Was rehabbing in 2021. I'm pretty sure I mentioned his blown out knee. I'll look for it if I can find that about the 10.8 back in April. That statement came from Wheeler himself.

Tomcats are very young and inexperienced. I still give them the edge over Boyd County.
Ashland had a much better opponent last week then did Boyd. However this is Boyd’s best chance to get a W on paper in a long time.
