57th District
#1
Any preseason updates on any of the teams from the 57th? I know JC has had 2 scrimmages which they won pretty easily. One against Huntington High and the other I think against another WV team. Has anyone seen them play or practice? And what about the other teams? Thanks!!!

Yesterday's game was at some Pan-o-rama type thing at Belfry I believe against a team from WV. The first one I'm pretty sure wasn't against Huntington High, it was against some small school from around that area. They won both games easily and the return of the Conley girl has helped this team out a lot. I pick JC to win the district easily and they could just be the team to beat in the region.

I saw JC play at Belfry this weekend and they looked really good. The Conley girl and the other big girl (Wireman??) both had a great game. I look for this team to go far this year.
The Conley girl is a tremendous athlete.

You're right. The first game was against Huntington St. Joe's, which is a small school that went to the WV state tournament last year and returned all players from that team. The first team JC played was a stronger team than the team they played at Belfry. And yes, the return of Conley has made this team stronger. If these girls continue to work hard, anything is possible.

Sheldon Clark slaughtered South Floyd in an earlier preseason game and in the Fastlane Tipoff Classic they played Lexington Cristian Academy. They didnt win (but then again no one expected them to.) but they didnt get slaughtered either. Which means a little when you are playing the defending champs and number 1 team in the state. I believe the scores were a deficite of 9 in the first half and a loss by 7 in the second.

Yes the return of Celena Conley has helped, but more than anything I think that the JC girls are hungry for yet another Regional Title.
