Jackson County 67 Clay County 53
#1
Final

I wonder if Jackson County had ever won at Clay by double-digits before last night? Clay's a mess!!! Whether he is resting above or below the firmament at this time, Bobby Keith can't be happy.

Gray continues to support all of my concerns and facts about him.  Clay will be lucky to win 10 games this season and that is absolutely pathetic.  Any other school would have already been looking for new leadership....but not in Clay County.  You gotta be in the political circle.

Clay is in such a death spiral right now it will be hard to reverse. They will not be able to attract players like in years past so they will have to build from within, with their own players. It will be difficult to attract a quality coach to Manchester (where you ah e to go some place else to even go anywhere). Then you add in the political climate and interference from everyone including janitors to board members….well not the most attractive place to go until things change. People are going to have make big changes to cleanse the whole program to regain the glory days.

How is the janitor interfering in the program?  Refusing to buff the gym floor before practice unless his kid gets more minutes?

I know local politics and how it can suffocate a sports program. I've seen it happen here in Corbin. I'm sure its bad as well in Clay County.  I am curious about the janitor, though. Smile

Sarcasm……….just exaggerating for effect, to illustrate how it looks from the outside. When you read everything CC fans write, sometimes I’m not sure the janitor doesn’t have some influence

Wow, I don't think I've ever heard of anything like that before!!!  Up by 21 and then lose by 10... is that some kind of record?

Clay athletics started tumbling into the abyss about 6 or 7 years ago when the school board "Cleaned House", they threw a bunch of babies out with the bath water, ("Don't throw the baby out with the bathwater" is an idiomatic expression for an avoidable error in which something good is eliminated when trying to get rid of something bad, or in other words, rejecting the favorable along with the unfavorable.)

It's horrible for the kids who deserve so much better.

So the school board started this sh!tburger ?  People need to realize when they elect school board members how their voting will affect the lives of kids, not only in the classroom but on the athletic fields of play as well.

Yes 100% -  Clay County has lost so many people, it goes so much deeper than sports; young families are leaving Clay in Droves, even if they work in Clay they're moving to Laurel and commuting, most are simply moving to other places for opportunity and jobs.  Most are leaving so their children can be a part of a positive community experience, be it school, community yes even churches.  The political mafia - meaning a handful of powerful people both democrat and republican in Clay County only are concerned about them and theirs, the betterment of the one has become more prevalent than that of the all, the citizens who should to be running for office would never, they know if they do, those currently in power will make an example, their friends and family will suffer their decisions, while they still hold infinite power.  If those running Clay County cared (meaning all, not just school board), they'd admit we've failed (Proofs in the pudding) and step aside, welcome anyone who has the enthusiasm and intelligence to improve the community to have their positions.
