UK: year and final AP ranking (when ranked)
1949 #11 lost Orange Bowl
1950 #7 before winning Sugar Bowl, ranked #1 Sagarin (gave rankings after bowl games), recognized as National Champions by Sagarin
1951 #15 before winning Cotton Bowl
1952 #20
1953 #16
1976 #18 after winning Peach bowl
1977 #6 no bowl
1984 #19 after winning Hall of Fame Bowl
Teams were given National Championships based on regular season performances before 1968. Up until then, bowl games had no bearing on the national championship.
So in reality, UK has one football national championship!

The best fact about that title is that Rupp and Bryant won in the same school year. However, UK gave Rupp a new car and Bear Bryant a ring.....Then two years later he went to Alabama.
